We are seeking a talented Health Physicist to provide professional guidance with the planning, implementing, and monitoring of radiation protection activities. Using sound technical judgment, you will work to ensure that licensed materials are procured, used, stored, transported and disposed in a safe, secure, and legal manner. You will prevent or minimize adverse effects to onsite personnel, the surrounding public, and the environment while facilitating groundbreaking research programs.
As a Health Physicist at APL...
You will lead the implementation and maintenance of a facility safety program for a 25 meV linear accelerator facility.
You will have primary responsibility for radiation safety programs related to our Broad Scope Radiation license.
You will be the technical specialist for all non-ionizing radiation challenges.
You will engage with researchers to provide insight into potential uses of radioactive materials and radiation to further their research goals.
You will provide back-up support for other health physics inquiries and related project.
You will have the opportunity to cross-train with other technical specialists in a broad range of environmental health and safety specialty areas.
You meet our minimum qualifications if you
Have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Health Physics or closely related area.
Have 1-3 years of experience in radiation safety.
Are energized by working in a collaborative, team environment.
Enjoy a variety of challenging tasks in a dynamic workplace.
Have a career goal to become certified by the American Board of Health Physics.
