We are delighted to offer an exceptional opportunity for a dedicated individual to join our dynamic Health Information Technology (HIT) department as a full-time faculty member. Regardless of the chosen work arrangement, you will lead online courses and/or externships, following our established course development model. This includes delivering instruction through various online methods, both synchronous and asynchronous, to provide a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Health Information Management or a related field.

  • AHIMA credential of Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT) is required. Consideration will be given to AHIMA coding or other relevant credentials.

  • Demonstrated expertise in effective online and blended teaching methodologies.

  • Strong knowledge of current HIT trends and technologies.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with a willingness to be on-site for local candidates and potential remote options for national candidates.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's in Health Information Management or a similar discipline preferred.

  • Community College and/or teaching HIT courses at the college level is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Positions may vary from extended standing, sitting, or walking.

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Salary $51,618 annually for first year Typical Duties and Responsibilities

Instruction

  • Teaches courses in accordance with outcomes identified in the established course development model. Uses effective and appropriate instructional delivery systems.

  • Develops and delivers engaging online and blended courses within the HIT curriculum.

  • Implement effective teaching strategies that utilize innovative technologies and promote student learning.

  • Continuously review and update course materials to stay current with industry trends and best practices.

  • Participates in the design of appropriate courses and programs of instruction. Utilizes appropriate process to maintain currency of curriculum and collaborates in the development and revision of curriculum as needed.

  • Demonstrates satisfactory preparation in course delivery and interaction.

  • Demonstrates rapport with students.

  • Establishes a clear and accurate syllabus for each class. Posts syllabus in CANVAS. Communicates course objectives, instructional processes, evaluation policies and methods, and attendance policies to students.

  • Evaluates and records student performance and achievement regularly and provides feedback to students.

  • Establishes and maintains appropriate office hours to assist students and provide feedback.

  • Collaborates with support services to assist student success in the classroom and/or clinical to meet recommended student/instructional accommodations as required.

  • Monitors and communicates with students about academic progress. Collaborate with advising by monitoring student progress and referring at risk students using early alert tools and/or other mechanisms. Maintain accurate attendance reports and deliver timely 4-week progress grades, midterm grades, and final grades.

  • Participates in outcomes assessment measurements adopted by EICC (Eastern Iowa Community Colleges). Plans and implements learning strategies appropriate for meeting student outcomes. Analyze results of planning and teaching and make appropriate revisions.

Involvement with the College and EICC District

  • Serves on college and district committees, work groups, and task forces.

  • Attends and participates in all scheduled faculty, college, district, and advisory meetings as appropriate.

  • Remote work format hires are required to be at a physical EICC campus up to 15 days (about 2 weeks) each academic year. These days will include but are not limited to Fall and Spring Start-Up Days, Fall Professional Development Day, Spring Graduation, and any in-person Assessment Day activities.

  • Sufficient advance notice will be given related to in-person obligations to allow for travel planning. When travelling to campus, Employees will incur the entire travel cost including lodging, airfare, and any other travel-related expenses.

  • Assists college in the recruitment and retention of students

  • Serves as an active department team member.

  • Demonstrates professionalism at all times.

  • Supports the EICC mission, values and belief in high expectations and high aspirations.

  • Commits to quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of students and internal/external stakeholders.

Professional Development

  • Retains professional qualifications (including academic degrees and specialized certifications and licensures) that meet or exceed those required for the position.

  • Actively maintains professional development activity and records in accordance with the guidelines of the Quality Faculty Plan.

  • Participates in professional meetings and workshops.

  • Participates in college/district professional development activities.

  • Remains active and current in one's professional field/discipline.

  • Remains current in pedagogical best practices.
