Job Description:
The Allied Health Programs Department at Onondaga Community College seeks adjunct instructors qualified to teach Health Information Technology. This position requires day and/or evening availability and teaching face-to-face classes on campus.
Major responsibilities include:
Prepare and present lectures;
Meet with students as needed to answer questions;
Respond to student queries (e.g. email or voice mail) as needed, in a reasonably timely manner;
Write, administer, and grade all student assignments and exams;
Compute grades and submit them on time.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Active RHIA credential with bachelor's in health information management and 3 years' experience
Master's preferred
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint);
Experience with electronic health records
Experience teaching at the college level preferred.
Demonstrated connections with local industries
Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered.
Additional Information:
The 2023-24 adjunct rate of pay is $1,371 per credit hour. 3-credit courses will be paid a total of $4,113.
Offers are contingent with the successful completion of a background check, and official transcripts are required at time of hire.
Fall semester begins 8/26/24.
While the department priority is to secure an instructor for the upcoming semesters, other opportunities for future teaching of other courses may exist, provided that instructor qualifications meet course instruction needs. Further, other applicants are encouraged to apply throughout the year. Applications will be reviewed on an as-needed basis. Successful applicants will be assigned an opportunity in either the Fall or Spring semester, based on availability of courses and instruction needs.
