Learn and grow with MaineHealth through our training and education opportunities.Your Role:The Health Information Specialist performs a wide range of duties and administrative tasks for CHANS Home Health & Hospice. Primary duties involve processing, completion, scanning, e-faxing, supply ordering, monthly closing, releases, retrieval, and record maintenance of patient's electronic medical record. This position involves maintaining physician orders patient needs, manager expectations, and individual clinician needs to ensure continuity of care. Secondary duties involve working with insurance authorization specialist, and cross trained to cover administrative/receptionist.Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):*
  • Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent. * License/Certifications: N/A. * Experience: Experience working with electronic healthcare records, databases, and other systems. * Able to handle patient and organizational information confidentially. * Working knowledge of medical terminology, insurance reimbursement, and medical records. * Verified technology and computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook. * Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skill including ability to demonstrate effective professional communication and interpersonal skills with a wide variety of individuals internal and external to agency. Communication may be verbal or written. * Experience in health information management or other applicable medical setting preferred.
