Shriners Children's is the premier pediatric burn, orthopedic, spinal cord injury, cleft lip and palate, and pediatric subspecialties medical center. We have an opportunity for an HIM Technician to join our Shreveport, Louisiana team.
Job Overview
The HIM Technician performs various HIM functions and responsibilities including processing non-electronic requests for information, issues with the DNFB/Provider Hold Report, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
Processes requests for information including all paper-based records, microfiche/microfilm, or records stored in any offsite locations, ensuring appropriate procedures are followed.
Monitors, assists, and follows up with physicians and other hospital staff in completion of deficiencies in the medical record, compiles, verifies data and prepares reports regarding patient related statistics and distributes/posts data.
Assists in resolving any portion of the merge process (at the facility level) identified by the Patient Access/Revenue Cycle.
Validates unique identity and the appropriate medical record number or person identification assignment.
Serves as the Physician/Provider Liaison to resolve any chart completion concerns or issues.
Handles complaints, provides appropriate solutions for customers, and follows-up to resolve any issues their customers experience.
Assists in on-boarding new physicians.
Scans medical records into the EMR.Note: This is not an all-inclusive list of this job's responsibilities. The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
This is a part-time job, up to 24 hours per week. Flexible schedule with hours between 8-4:30 Monday - Friday, dependant on candidate availability.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma/GED RequiredAssociates or Bachelors degree in Health Information Management Preferred
Experience
1 Year Customer Service experience Required1 Year Healthcare experience in medical records processing operation or business office Preferred
Certifications and Licensures
Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) PreferredRegistered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) Preferred
