Orange Regional Medical Center (ORMC), is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. Formed by the merger of Arden Hill Hospital and Horton Medical Center, Orange Regional moved the two campuses into a new, single-site, state-of-the-art facility on August 5, 2011. At that time, it was the first new hospital built in New York State in over 20 years. Orange Regional features seven floors of state-of-the-art technology and provides 383 beds and employs over 2,400 healthcare professionals. Most recently, Orange Regional opened a new cancer center and a new five-story Outpatient Services building on the main campus, featuring Orange Regional Medical Group with primary care and specialty physicians, urgent care, outpatient surgical and diagnostic services and more. Orange Regional is a designated Magnet hospital recognizing excellence in Nursing. Only 6 percent of hospitals nation-wide are designated by the Magnet Recognition Program. Also, Orange Regional's Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system has achieved Stage 7; the highest level on HIMSS Analytics' EMR adoption model which is used to track EMR progress at hospitals and health systems. Only 4.2 percent of the more than 5,400 U.S. hospitals received the Stage 7 Award. Orange Regional has also been named among the 100 best Hospitals nationally for cardiac intervention by Healthgrades.


The Health Information Exchange Analyst will participate in the planning, development and maintenance of the Care Everywhere application within Epic. This individual will participate in the development of workflows, system configuration application deployment and support, change documentation and support of staff on application functionality. This required the individual to remain current with the system and/or application as well as interfacing with GHVHS departmental and external analysts. A good understanding of technical infrastructure is important. This includes networking, data interfaces and server administration.

The Care Everywhere application allows GHVHS to securely exchange patient health information electronically across disparate electronic health record systems regionally and nationally. The Health Information Exchange Analyst will need to stay current with Health Information Exchange and the technology associated with interoperability including national exchange standards, trends and compliance standards.


Minimum Education, Certifications, and Experience Required

Bachelor's degree and either 8 years related experience or 4 years direct; OR An approved equivalent combination of education and experience while working toward a bachelor's degree.

Certifications: Epic

Preferences: Healthcare Experience

Level 1 Not EPIC certified and less than 2 years' experience

Level 2 EPIC certified and 2 plus years' experience

Level 3 EPIC certified and 5 plus years' experience

Skills and Abilities Required

  • 1 year experience writing Transact SQL queries and scripting SQL Server objects.

  • 1 year Experience creating Crystal Reports

  • Ability to work with a computer terminal for extended periods of time.

  • Hearing Position requires incumbent to hear normal sounds with some background noise, as in answering the telephone.

Attention Span Position requires incumbent to frequently attend to tasks/functions for longer than 60 minutes at a time. Conceptualization Position requires incumbent to constantly understand and relate to the theories behind several related concepts. Orange Regional Medical Center has consolidated two existing campuses onto a single site in Middletown, New York. This completed facility is the first new freestanding hospital built in the State of New York since 1989 and is the largest medical center between the Tappan Zee Bridge and Albany. Responsibilities Implement Medical Center policies and procedures necessary to insure and maintain compliance with NYSDOH, OSHA and The Joint Commission regulations and standards. Evaluate various health records including immunization and/or immunity documentation, x-ray reports, physical examinations, medical/work history, etc. to ensure compliance with Medical Center policy. Perform clinical procedures including blood and urine collection, immunization administration, vision screening, respirator fit-testing and vital signs. Maintain accurate records, both electronic and paper, on all personnel including pre-employment, annual reassessment, influenza vaccination/declination and respirator fit testing. Report, manage and document occupational exposures including BloodBorne Pathogen exposures, TB, meningitis, etc.. Advise Medical Center personnel and assist in the implementation of the Drug Free Work Place policy. Input data into Employee Health electronic record. Supervise Licensed Practical Nurse and work under the direction of the Employee Health Medical Director. Qualifications POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: NYS Licensed Registered Professional Nurse. Minimum Education: Successful completion of an accredited program for Registered Nursing. Minimum Experience: 3 Years experience as a Registered Nurse. 1 Year Occupational/Employee Health Experience preferred. Required Certification/Registration: Valid and current NYS RN license. CPR / BLS certification necessary. Physical Requirements: Periods of prolonged sitting, standing, and walking. Requires frequent reaching and bending. Requires frequent pushing/ pulling of mobile cart. Occasional lifting of 25 lbs. Rare lifting/assisting of patient (150 lbs or greater) in emergency situations. Working Conditions: Generally pleasant but often busy and fast paced. Frequent interruptions in work due to employee visits and telephone calls requiring exceptional multi-tasking ability, occasionally under pressure.
