ABOUT THE POSITION
This is administrative and supervisory education and promotion work planning and directing a comprehensive health education program. Employees in this class are responsible for the development and implementation of health education programs, including the dissemination of basic health information and methods of reducing the risk of acquiring a variety of communicable and sexually transmitted diseases.
Work involves supervising a staff of employees who are responsible for providing health education and training to members of the community as well as staff in facilities which may provide a variety of services for persons with health problems including AIDS, drug addiction, communicable diseases and other health issues. A significant aspect of the work includes meetings and establishing rapport with City and local agencies, school board officials, community organizations and representatives from facilities providing a variety of services to the public at large. Work is performed under the direction of a technical superior.
