Health Data Research SME

Key Role:

Focus on applying principles of computer and information science to the advancement of life sciences research, health professions education, public health, and care, including informatics, clinical informatics, and public health informatics. Assist with developing technical and business requirements and data visualization. Perform research on complex topics, synthesize information, analyze results, and communicate clearly.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with manipulating health research data

  • Experience with analytic methods and bioinformatics tools and techniques

  • Knowledge of genomics and proteomics extraction methods and procedures, pipelines, omic data, and data manipulation

  • Ability to perform research on complex topics, synthesize information, and analyze results

  • BA or BS degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills

  • PhD degree in a Life Sciences field

This individual is responsible for understanding all the data that resides in the organization, developing processes to ensure data quality and accuracy and performing quality control measures to make sure data integrity is maintained. With internal and external stakeholders, this individual will analyze qualitative and quantitative data and develop insightful and actionable project recommendations. This includes evaluating client web and mobile data and SEO programs for areas of opportunity to improve the websites/web and mobile apps and overall customer experience. Additionally, this role leads the development of formative research through secondary data review. The position will directly supervise 3-4 research and data analysts. What Will You Be Engaged In Day-To-Day? * Supporting strategic planning and technology implementation across the company by understanding and developing documentation of the internal data environment (including data collection, storage, accessibility, accuracy checks) and creating and delivering training on systems, processes and services to improve data quality. * Using analytics to analyze and define decision-making. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to define data gathering efforts, streamlining current and implementing new research and data collection processes, ensuring the accuracy of the data gathered, establishing key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting on KPIs in an informative and meaningful way. * Leading the data analytics reporting efforts by producing visually-rich dashboards displaying KPIs and other valued metrics for client projects. Providing recommendations on projects or corporate initiatives on a monthly, quarterly and ad hoc basis. * Overseeing the optimization of client websites in collaboration with the Digital Technology team. Leading or contributing to the development of SEO strategies and paid digital ad programs. Synthesizing customer and business insights, and input from cross-functional teams, into the development of digital solutions deliverables such as creative briefs and engaging presentations. * Performing or overseeing formative research projects including review of secondary data and/or primary data collection methods (e.g., in-person or virtual focus groups, in-depth interviews, surveys, mall intercepts). * Extrapolating research findings, creating, organizing and writing engaging and cohesive reports that succinctly communicate results to clients. * Interfacing with clients frequently, building strong relationships and ensuring all client requests are attended to in a timely fashion, including proactively addressing potential sources of difficulty that may affect project performance. * Maintaining project budgets, schedules, and staff levels in collaboration with project leads to ensure adherence to contract requirements. * Supervising and mentoring 3-4 research and data analysts. Coaching team members on quality and quantity of work performed, providing technical guidance and support, preparing and conducting performance evaluations, interpreting company policies and procedures for staff, and ensuring that company policies, procedures, and practices are followed. * Attaining revenue goals by developing effective business development strategies, seeking out new business opportunities with your area of technical expertise and winning client proposals that achieve revenue objectives. Ensuring that proposals represent sound technical approaches and give assurance of a targeted profit. Developing proposals and disseminating information to the team. * Performing other duties as assigned. What Qualifications Will Help You Succeed? * BS. or B.A. degree or higher in mathematics, engineering, computer science, statistics, actuarial sciences or physics, plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience including supervisory, research and data analysis experience in a public health field (government contracting) preferred. * Significant experience in a government contracting and agency environment, including budget responsibility. The government contracting experience must include technical program planning and implementation, contract interpretation and administration, budget development, and administration of government projects. * Strong data visualization and analytical skills including a strong aptitude in UX/UI, web analytics, SEO, and paid digital advertising programs. * Familiarity with Google Analytics, Data Studio, SQL/ Relational Databases and Tableau. * Team player mentality – even as a Director, you may need to "roll up your sleeves." A collaborative attitude and being able to identify and resolve problems in a team environment. * A passion for learning and staying current with new and future digital trends, as well as experience integrating emerging trends internally and growing supporting team structures. * Strong organizational skills, initiative, and follow-through; and flexibility and responsiveness to changing requirements and conditions. * Excellent written and verbal communications skills. * The ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, pay attention to details, and handle a variety of responsibilities simultaneously without missing a beat. * Strong foundation in Microsoft Office along with experience working in SharePoint.
