Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Health Data Manager to play a vital role in the implementation of the Violence Against Children and Youth Survey (VACS) and support data management responsibilities for projects carried out by the Field Epidemiology and Prevention brand (FEPB) in Atlanta, GA. The position requires a computer programmer to assist with planning and organizing of data collection activities, VACS data collection, maintenance of data collection systems, and partner engagement to enhance electronic data collection capacity.

Location: Atlanta, GA (100% on-site)

Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship required, must pass CDC background investigation

Responsibilities of the Health Data Engineer:

  • Provide computer programming support and consultation, with a focus on designing, developing, and maintaining data collection information systems.

  • Assist FEPB in planning and organizing VACS data collection activities, ensuring efficient and effective data management processes.

  • Develop computer programs and processes tailored for the successful implementation of VACS and other data management projects.

  • Develop country specific databases, data dictionaries, and electronic data entry systems, enabling efficient data collection, cleaning, and management.

  • Design, test, and evaluate logic code for VACS data collection systems, emphasizing functionality, user-friendliness, efficiency, and data accuracy.

  • Monitor the data entry process for errors and conduct error checks on raw data files, ensuring data quality and integrity.

  • Provide analytic support to prepare analyses and reports, helping to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Collaborate with CDC to revise electronic data collection tools and training materials, ensuring their effectiveness and relevance.

  • Participate in travel to conduct training sessions to build the capacity of in country partners on VACS electronic data collection systems and data management procedures.

Qualifications of the Health Data Engineer:

  • U.S. Citizenship required, willingness to obtain CDC Public Trust

  • Experience supporting Public Health sector, experience with open-source data tools

  • 2+ years in the following areas:

  • Designing, developing, and maintaining data collection information systems.

  • Strong experience with ODK (Open Data Kit) or similar open-source platform (RedCap)

  • Developing data entry programs, databases, and reports in low-resource settings.

  • Proficient in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#,

  • Experience with surveys, surveillance systems, or large epidemiological studies, including cloud-based development of visual analytics systems.

  • Preparing technical documentation and computer-generated reports.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Experience in training and leading teams of various sizes

  • Possible travel internationally and will be responsible for managing all aspects of travel logistics

Compensation for the Health Data Engineer:

  • Salary Range: $90,000-$105,000 based on experience

  • Direct placement opportunity to PCI Government Services
