Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Health Care Technician II to work in the Admission Office 2nd (3:00pm-11:30pm) shift. This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled health care activities for mentally ill patients with physical as well as behavioral problems.

As a clinical worker this employee carries out the admitting process, and works under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Health Care Technician II is responible for data entry and documentation in the patient medical record as well as utilizing both in-person and telephone interacations with patients, families, law enforcement, and external agencies while carrying out assigned duties. This individual must be able to communicate accurate information in a professional manner with all internal and external customers and work indepently as a member of a team.

The normal work schedule is Monday-Friday, with alternating weekends, flexibility to work any shift is required. These positions are mandatory and must report to work in all weather events.

Recruitment Range:  $31,200 - $45,268

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they clearly possess the following:

  • One (1) or more years of experience working in a Psychiatric, IDD, Substance Abuse, or Neuro Medical facility.

Management prefers candidates with the following;

  • Current NC certification as a Nurse Aide I or Nurse Aide II

  • Experience working in a hospital admissions office and/or assisting with patient admissions

High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience;

Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

  • A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:

  • The employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);

  • The employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;

  • Or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
