Be the first line of defense against injury and illness of civilians after natural disasters, and the Soldiers who serve and protect our Nation every day. As a Health Care Specialist in the Army National Guard, you will experience a fulfilling role as an expert caretaker on and off the battlefield.

You will address the health care needs of civilians after natural disasters or civil emergencies; treat injuries and illnesses suffered by Soldiers through the administration of immediate emergency care and ongoing care; and support and manage medical readiness, supplies, and equipment.

Job Duties

  • Administer emergency medical treatment to battlefield casualties

  • Assist with outpatient and inpatient care and treatment

  • Instruct Soldiers on Combat Lifesaver/First Responder training course

  • Manage Soldiers' medical readiness, medical supplies, and equipment

Through your training, you will develop the skills and experience to enjoy a civilian career with civilian hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, or rehabilitation centers. You may also consider a career as an emergency medical technician, medical assistant, a medication aide, or physician's assistant. Soldiers in this MOS must also obtain certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians at the EMT level or higher.

Job training for Health Care Specialists requires 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn fundamental Soldiering skills, and 16 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), which includes practice in patient care. The duration of your AIT depends on the area of specialization you choose. Part of AIT is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

The Residential Specialist works with consumers in their homes by providing the support to assist consumers in developing the skills necessary for independence and success. This person reports to the Residential Coordinator or the Program Director. Required Education, Knowledge and Skill Abilities to Perform Essential Job Functions: A high school diploma is required and experience in human service delivery is preferred. Ability to work as a part of a team is necessary. A good driving record is also essential. Ability to respect individual choice in the recovery process and a commitment to recovery through the psychiatric rehabilitation process is required. Also, this position requires good verbal communication skills and the understanding to respect the abilities and limitations of consumers. CNA, GNA and/or Med Tech Certified a plus. Summary of Essential Functions, Responsibilities and Duties: * Assist consumers with implementing Individual Rehabilitation Plans to reach goals * Facilitate group and individual activities * Provide transportation to assist consumers in using community resources * Document activities and services in log book, service forms, incident reports and progress notes in a timely manner * Assist consumers with independent living skills * Communicate with supervisors and other employees to ensure continuum of service * Provide residential program coverage * Perform medication monitoring * Engage in crisis management * Assist with/and or clean individuals' homes as need * Utilize Time and Attendance System and verify time on last day worked in pay cycle * Confirm that medication cabinet is empty each shift and correct medications are available at the houses * Utilize Electronic Health Record to document and record services provided * Perform other duties as requested by shift leader and/or supervisor Schedule: Full-Time Monday through Friday 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm Crisis Differential Pay of additional $3 hour during COVID19 Equal Opportunity Employer Prologue Reisterstown MD
