Cecil College is centrally located in Maryland's most northeastern county, just one half mile from Interstate 95. It is easily accessible from Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as from Wilmington, Delaware.

With a diverse student population, Cecil College enrolls approximately 2,500 credit students and 3,400 non-credit students. Cecil offers associate degrees, certificate programs and non-credit classes. Cecil offers a variety of associate degree and certificate programs.

Position Description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for coordinating services for students, instructors, and the community to meet their needs including advising students, facilitating instructor contracts, collaborating with grants, and managing related Health Care course schedules. Assure clinical clearances for students and faculty as required through Castle branch and Clinical Nexus or other software used to clear students in the clinical settings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinates programs in a way in which student, employer and agency needs are met; serves as the first line point- of-contact with students, staff representatives, and partners.

  • Plans and develops regional marketing events and information sessions.

  • Recruits, interviews and advises students based on program requirements.

  • Coordinates student orientations and recognition ceremonies.

  • Collaborates with instructors and other College resources with a focus on student success and retention.

  • Prepares and facilitates instructor contracts for Health Care Career programs, consisting of Paramedic, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistants, Nursing Assistants, Phlebotomist, Certified Coders, Medicine Aides and other new programs in the Health Care Careers department.

  • Serves on College, community, and/or business committees or planning groups; attends state meetings, which enhance the reputation of Cecil College Health Care programs

  • Identifies, develops, and/or collaborates with other departments on grant opportunities that enhance the Healthcare Careers area.

  • Monitors and makes recommendations for adjustments in Department budget to ensure fiscal soundness in a way that significantly contributes to the overall Cecil College revenue goals; creates and monitors fee tables for Finance Department; and creates invoice requisitions for payment.

  • Responsible for creating and managing Fall and Spring course schedules mailed to community households and community partners.

  • Performs other assigned duties.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Two (2) years of experience in a related field of work.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of preparation of internal and external reporting.

  • Knowledge of coordination of programs to meet the needs of students.

  • Knowledge of project and event planning.

  • Ability to plan, prioritize and delegate tasks related to short-term and long-term projects and events.

  • Ability to collaborate with various College departments and outside funding agencies so that students from various states, backgrounds, socio-economic status, and levels of readiness may enter and successfully complete programs.

  • Ability to collaborate with multiple departments and faculty to develop the schedule of courses and leverage resources while meeting set timelines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as sedentary work involving lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required occasionally, and other sedentary criteria are met.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe work place practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.

SCHEDULING:

  • Ability to work a varied schedule during critical periods including evenings Saturdays, and Sundays

  • Due to the need of interaction with students, employees and the college community this position requires in-person presence. This position is eligible for telework of one day per week.
