The Health and Safety Technician is the entry level position into the Health and Safety Specialist series. The Technician will be responsible for being the boots on the ground for the EHS Department around the MP Mine Site. The Technician will need to be able to interface, collaborate, and coordinate with other members of the EHS Team, Contractors, and other MP Departments.
Salary: The expected pay rate is $33.00 an hour with overtime provided as required. The actual pay rate offered may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to experience, knowledge, skills, and/or location.
Essential Duties:
Perform weekly audits and inspections of production areas.
Oversee Contractor movement throughout the facility under the direction of the Health and Safety Specialist or EHS Manager.
Assist MP Materials Project Managers with contractor oversight during Health and Safety Projects, as requested.
Assist the Health and Safety Specialist in incident investigations.
Maintain accurate and legible records.
Other Functions
Input and manage EHS data tracking through in Gensuite.
Assist with workers compensation case management.
Identify any unsafe activities or unsafe conditions that could result in harm to personnel, damage to property, or negative impacts to the environment.
Maintain and accept personal responsibility for safe work practices.
Effective communication between operations, maintenance and EHS Team.
Maintain clean, organized work areas and perform daily pre-work inspections.
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED.
Related job site work experience in a Chemical, Mining, Petroleum, Heavy Industrial, or Government setting preferred.
Desired Qualities:
Trained in safe forklift operation.
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Ability to complete a task with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail and ability to learn new duties.
Ability to work in teams with strong collaboration skills.
Ability to communicate with people at all levels within the organization.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
A Valid Driver's License is required to drive company vehicles on property.
