Opportunity: Health and Safety Systems Analyst

Location: Charlotte, North Carolina

Role purpose:

  • To manage the operation, development and data integrity of Coats' electronic H&S Information System (Coats Intelex)

  • To provide analysis of system data to enable identification of trends and incident prevention opportunities

  • To configure applications and design/generate custom reports and dashboards of H&S performance and KPI's

  • To train and mentor users on the proper operation of Coats Intelex workflows and applications

Key accountabilities:

  • Partner with external vendor consultants to configure and streamline Coats Intelex

  • Develop the policies, systems, procedures, user guides and training on the Coats Intelex system.

  • Design and develop reports and dashboards for H&S Cluster heads and other business unit use

  • Validate proper data entry by users and ensure proper use of the system

  • Lead efforts to analyse, implement, support and improve software.

  • Partner with Information Technology department to ensure proper user access is maintained.

  • Serve as a dedicated resource to users to ensure a timely resolution of issues and provide exclusive support in the day-to-day operations.

  • Communicate interruptions in system availability and manage the implementation of major upgrades.

  • Support other H&S management system, reporting, and program needs

Education, qualifications and experience:


  • Successful completion of post-secondary education in Computer Science or Occupational Health & Safety or a demonstrated 5 year working knowledge of the field.

  • Familiar with Environmental, Health & Safety management systems and performance indicators

  • Strong computer skills (Work, Excel, Access, Powerpoint)

  • Experience working with relational databases

  • Excellent data analysis and evaluation skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Motivated self-starter

  • Good verbal, written and presentation skills.

  • Capable of developing training materials and delivering the material in person or via remote media.


  • Prior experience working with Intelex.

  • Strong knowledge of SQL

  • Experience of achieving and maintaining ISO compliance.

Job Summary The Food Safety Analyst supports the Quality Assurance Department and the Food Safety Field Operations Team. Documents and reports generated by the Food Safety Analyst will help drive continuous improvement in food safety in Compass Group businesses. Key Responsibilities: Assist the Director of Food Safety Programs with the following activities including but not limited to: * Collect and analyze data to identify trends, potential threats, and business opportunities. * Conduct research and present findings in useful format to emphasize the value or importance to the business across a wide array of food safety, regulatory, and public and environmental health matters. * Create and distribute communications within the department teams, to other corporate departments and to sector communication teams including newsletters, press releases, and maintenance of internal web page. * Monitor pertinent regulatory, industry, academia, private sector, and media postings and alert/news feeds for emerging concerns that require investigation, action, follow-up, and/or communication due to potential business impact. * Develop and distribute educational materials (written, electronic, visual, etc.) on food safety topics * Provide document control of internal department and company policies, processes, and procedures * Work to continuously improve workflow, procedures, and tasks to increase efficiency and assure stakeholder satisfaction * Assist other analysts and coordinators with food safety data metrics and management, questions from the field, general office tasks, and other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications: * B.S. degree in environmental health, food technology, food science, food safety, or related degree * Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint), and data management systems * Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations governing food service operations including FDA, state, and local food codes and working knowledge of HACCP * Demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks * Demonstrated knowledge of food service * Strong attention to detail and ability to effectively prioritize and complete assigned work * Strong written and verbal communication skills1-3 years experience in food service, food retail, food safety auditing or regulatory inspections, food manufacturing or processing.
