BRIEF OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:

The Health and Safety (HS) Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining HS programs, policies, and procedures. The role involves conducting risk assessments and creating programs to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with relevant regulations. The role includes oversight and support of the Trades Departments. The HS Manager will also be responsible for accident investigation and training employees regarding safe work practices. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Hands-on position requiring daily interaction with employees throughout the facility.

• Interacts with regulatory agencies as they relate to citations, notices of violation, informal conferences, appeals, submittals, permit renewals, inspections, and corrective actions.

• Strategic development of trend analyses and metrics reports for the facility to decrease injury rates and improve compliance.

• Development and implementation of processes that improve the effectiveness of the Health and Safety programs.

• Conduct root cause investigations of all OSHA recordable injuries and near misses.

• Address and implement changes, if warranted, as a result of such investigations.

• Works within approved budget, maintaining costs while developing and implement cost saving measures.

• Develop, review and revise Safety policies in compliance with changing or new regulations.

• Counsel and assist management with safety related prevention and/or concerns.

• Utilize outside resources to monitor issues and concerns in OSHA regulations and communicate potential changes to senior management.

• Anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices. Identify, monitor, evaluate and track all safety activities through audits and statistical analysis from detailed record keeping. Provide expertise and advice on EHS issues to area managers.

• Manage the Worker Compensation claims process with support from Human Resources.

Candidates considered to join our team must have the following qualifications:

• Must have a BS/BA in a related discipline or a High School Diploma with at least 15 years of related experience.

• A minimum of ten (10) years in a leadership/managerial role within the Health and Safety function is required.

• Hands on experience working in a similar role in a manufacturing facility.

• Licensed as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is strongly preferred.
