The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Safety Manager in promoting and sustaining a safe work environment in order to avoid and minimize Health and Safety related problems. These problems include but are not limited to prevention of human injury, emergency response and unsafe working conditions/practices. This is done through health, safety, training, programs, and processes with a visible and uncompromised commitment to the protection of the environment as well as the productivity of the Company's employees.

  • Provide day-to-day support of plant activities including safety aspects which include daily employee safety, machine guarding, personal protective equipment, consulting on safety matters and responsible for safety system analysis, review, anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices

  • Coordinate and facilitate site wide training programs, including planning training sessions, updates, and site-specific presentations for the Rancho Cucamonga facility.

  • Safety Program Implementation: Implement site safety programs and ensure compliance with federal, state, local and corporate compliance. Coordinate with SAFETY Manager to roll-out new safety standards and best practices. Work with plant staff to implement new site Safety Standards.

  • OSHA and CUPA Compliance: Interact with OSHA and CUPA inspectors and representatives during plant inspections. Provide relevant citation data and photographs to corporate safety personnel. Partner with SAFETY Manager to determine citations eligible for challenge.

  • Near-Miss / Accident Investigations: Lead and facilitate incident investigations with site leadership. Assess accidents and near misses and perform Root Cause Analyses. Analyze investigation results and analyze trends to ensure a reduction in future accidents.

  • Plant Safety Culture Leadership: Lead plant Safety Committee and promote employee engagement to develop an active and robust safety culture. Schedule and plan monthly Safety Committee meetings.

  • SAFETY Rep Leadership: Coordinate and Monitor on-site SAFETY Representatives, ensuring proper training and equipment is available.

  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits per facility audit schedule.

  • Support the site safety standards, equivalent to ISO 14001 and 45001

Worker's Compensation :

  • Responsible for timely filing of Workers' Compensation claims with third party administrator and maintains correspondence and written information related to employee Workers' compensation claims

  • Reviews restrictions and matches restrictions with available and appropriate transitional duty assignments as assigned. Periodically contacts employees on Transitional duty or lost time.

  • Coordinate Return to work / Modified duty programs. Monitors and arranges for timely return to work of employees.

  • Maintains OSHA logs, injury, absence, modified / transitional duty, and other alternative electronic data methods. Prepares reports for OSHA compliance.

  • Manages, maintains and submits annual OSHA recordkeeping forms


  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety audits per facility audit schedule.

  • Maintain and monitor compliance calendar to ensure timely regulatory compliance.

  • Work in team environment, coordinate and manage multiple projects and assignments, analyze process data, troubleshoot plant operations, and assist in the implementation of solutions.

  • Perform "on-call" duties on rotation with the supervisory team.

  • Be part of an effective team within the plant that works well with other functions; sales, marketing, finance, human resources, engineering and corporate EHS.

Education and/or Experience

  • Safety related bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • 4 or more years' experience in safety/health and industrial hygiene (OSHA) compliance preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

  • Successful in both team and individual-based work environments.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Proficient in basic computer software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit for extended periods of time. Requires eye-hand coordination, repetitive hand and arm movement and manual dexterity use of hands to finger, handle, or feel. Reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, listen and speak. The employee must frequently bend, reach to shoulder level and lift, carry, push and/or pull up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Hearing level is within normal/average range.

Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment may be loud. Employee will be required to wear personal safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and proper steel toe footwear (PPE) in manufacturing areas.

The Risk &amp; Safety Consultant requires a good knowledge of occupational safety, knowledge of occupational health and a working knowledge of state and/or Federal OSHA compliance regulations.</p><p>Effectively evaluate the client's worksite to determine workplace hazards, evaluate the effectiveness of workplace hazard controls, provides recommendations to improve hazard control and improve workplace safety efforts. Assist clients with OSHA compliance. <br><br> Provides clients with guidance with respect to their safety documentation needs and helps clients with compiling documentation needed for an effective injury and illness protection program. Provide onsite safety awareness training as mandated by OSHA regulations. Routinely assists clients with guidance on accident investigation protocols and loss analysis. Provides virtual safety awareness training to our client to increase product/service penetration and client retention.</p><p>Is an integral part of the client acceptance process. Works directly with our Sales Team. <br><br> Conducts onsite risk and safety evaluations at prospective client locations and reports the results directly to the Client Acceptance team. Provides support to the Risk Audit team by proving information needed to properly class code client employees.</p><p>Provides Service Excellence and works collaboratively with our other Client Service teams including our HR team and our Sales team.</p><p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p><ul><li><p>Client Assessment: Provide onsite safety consultation services to prospective clients and clients located within a defined geographic territory by conducting client interviews and onsite hazard assessment surveys to determine hazards and exposures associated with client business operations. <br><br> Evaluate the effectiveness of the client's controls of the hazards and exposures associated with the client's operations. In addition provide clients with guidance on OSHA compliance.</p></li><li><p>Service Plans: Provides client with guidance on applicable OSHA regulations and requirements for compliance. <br><br> Creates and provides written recommendations to clients that suggest controls of workplace related safety hazards and exposures. Assists client with the implementation of plans.</p></li><li><p>Training: Develop, modify and present safety awareness training at the client facility especially safety awareness trainings required to comply with OSHA regulations. In addition may conducts live-web-based safety awareness training using WebEx tools</p></li><li><p>Prospective Client and Client Site Assessment Documentation: Documents the results of all client interactions using eRFP or RAMS in accordance with Risk department guidelines. <br><br> Provide the client a summary of the results of all onsite visits via letter. Customizes the Risk &amp; Safety model for individual clients and produces safety manuals</p></li><li><p>Prospective Client Site Assessment aka Presurveys: Provide timely and proactive support to the PEO sales District Managers detailing by assisting our Client Acceptance department with prospective client underwriting by completing presurveys.</p></li><li><p>Mentors, coaches and trains Safety Specialist associates to aid professional development. Provides input into the associate's goals and performance appraisals</p></li><li><p>Participate in special projects assigned by Director of Loss Control or designee</p></li><li><p>Interface with internal associates including the General Manager, VP of Client Services, Client Retention Executive, Finance Executive, Director of Marketing, and Client Relationship Executives to assist with specific client issues directly related to Safety and Loss Prevention client services.</p></li></ul><p>QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:</p><ul><li>Master's Degree</li><li>8-12 years of experience.</li></ul><p>Preference will be given to candidates who have the following:</p><ul><li><p>Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Risk Management, or Related Field.
