Health Aide 1 - 2024-2025 School Year

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma, GED or the equivalent.

• Educational aide certificate.

• Experience working with children

• Ability to interact positively with parents and staff

PREFERRED:

• Associates Degree or LPN Certified

• Work experience as a health assistant, personal care technician, hospital ward clerk, physician's office or other equivalent experience in the medical profession.

• Current First Aid and CPR certification from an approved provider.

• Good working knowledge of computer applications, including Google Suite,

• Microsoft Office, Student Information Systems.

• Bilingual skillS

REPORT TO: Director Special Services

JOB GOALS: To assist the school nurse.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Administers first aid to injured students and provides short-term care to enhance the comfort and safety of injured or ill students

• Ability to assist in the vision and hearing screening program.

• Ability to assist in specialized health care procedures such as catheterization.

• Assist in completion of new student health records.

• Ability to assist in compiling health concern information and the input of data onto computer.

• Ability to assist in the medication delivery system which is delegated by the building administrators.

• Assist with Kindergarten registration.

• Works directly under the guidance of the school nurse and may be asked to assist in other areas as deemed necessary.

• Ability to communicate frequently with the school nurse.

• Ability to be discreet with confidential information.

ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue.

• Excellent observation and communication skills

• May perform strenuous tasks, such as lifting, when working with students.

• Assisting students with behavioral/management needs

• Frequent evening and/or weekend work
