The Health Administration Division, School of Health Sciences, Central Michigan University, The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions is seeking to hire an on-site, 10-month full-time lecturer, beginning fall 2024, with experience in any of the following areas: health services organization and administration, health planning and policy, healthcare ethics and law, public health administration, international health. Teaching assignments will vary based upon the expertise of the candidate and programmatic needs.

The candidate will mainly be assigned to teaching responsibilities for the undergraduate health administration program (face to face), coordination of student internships, and possibly the master's in health administration (online) and the Doctors in Health Administration (online) teaching, based on department needs.

The ideal candidate will work as a collaborative faculty member committed to academic excellence, innovation, and student success. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to efforts and initiatives for curriculum development, program growth, and will also participate in student academic advising. The successful candidate will be expected to be an active member of the health administration division and participate in the Health Administration Division meetings and annual retreats.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach health administration courses, face to face and/or online for the undergraduate health administration major, and possibly MHA, and DHA.

  • Coordinate health administration student internships.

  • Contribute to the development of course curricula and program updates.

  • Advise undergraduate health administration and graduate MHA students.

  • Participate in Health Administration wide activities such as re-accreditation/re-certification efforts, and student recruitment

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in health administration or related area.

  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team and collaborate across disciplines.

  • Experience in and demonstrated enthusiasm to full time teaching, advising, and mentoring of students with diverse backgrounds and learning styles.

  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Health Administration or related area.

  • An area of expertise that includes health service organizations and systems, health services administration, health planning and policies, or health law.

  • Experience in healthcare management roles in US health systems.

  • Experience in involvement in the accreditation process of academic programs.

The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions consists of five academic units (Department of Physical Therapy, Department of Physical Education and Sport, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, the School of Health Sciences, and the School of Rehabilitation and Medical Science). The college offers undergraduate and/or graduate degree programs in athletic training, audiology, communication sciences and disorders, exercise science, environmental health and safety, health administration, physical activity specialist, physical education, physical therapy, physician assistant, public health, school and public health education, speech-language pathology, and sport management, delivered by 100+ faculty/staff. Health Administration offers the complete spectrum of all three levels of academic programs including an undergraduate major in health administration, a Master of Health Administration (MHA) program and a Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) program.
