Concordia University Chicago (CUC) invites applications for the full-time, exempt position of Head Women's Lacrosse Coach. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and is located in River Forest, IL.

This position is responsible for instructing players in lacrosse fundamentals and strategies, developing skill drills, developing player game sense and teamwork while incorporating the Concordia University's mission and fostering a Christian concern for the athlete's academic, athletic, social, and spiritual development. The Head Women's Lacrosse Coach plans and directs the Women's lacrosse program which includes practice and game management, overseeing assistant coaches, scheduling, budgeting and promotion of the CUC sport and recruitment of scholar athletes. This position is also responsible for all areas of operating summer camps, summer camp policies and procedures at CUC by the athletic department. In addition, the incumbent will assist with summer camp marketing and communication to the community.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Oversees all aspects of on-site coaching while creating an environment that is consistent with the values of the university and fostering the development of the student-athlete program

  • Creates and instructs competitive practices and the game/event schedule, arranging facility reservations and travel details for the program

  • Instills discipline and competition into the college lacrosse program

  • Instructs individual workout plans for each athlete to maximize skill development and potential, understanding of the game, and game strategy

  • Oversees the recruitment of student-athletes who contribute to the realization of the lacrosse program objectives academically, athletically and spiritually in consultation with Undergraduate Admission Department and Director of Athletics

  • Meets enrollment and roster goals set by the University

  • Helps facilitate academic success for all student athletes by developing study table opportunities for the student athlete in the program

  • Provides game management for one or two athletic programs in the fall and arranges game workers for the athletic events

  • Organizes and leads summer camps, developing opportunities and clinics for recruitment

  • Candidates must support and be committed to the mission and identity of Concordia University Chicago, a university of the Lutheran Church

  • Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Skill Sets:

  • Demonstrated experience in planning and directing a collegiate women's lacrosse program

  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of lacrosse skills and strategies

  • Commitment to maintaining a minimum standard of abilities to be competitive within competition

  • Ability to supervise coaching staff and conduct appropriate game management

  • Experience and understanding of working with an established budget

  • Demonstrated successful recruitment and retention strategies

  • Exhibits a service mentality toward all stakeholders

  • All communication with stakeholders is effective, professional, accurate, and timely

  • Improves work performance and that of others by being receptive to and appropriately sharing information

  • Enthusiastic supporter of Lutheran higher education and Concordia University Chicago

Minimum Experience Required:

3 years of intercollegiate coaching as the head coach or 5 years as an assistant coach required

Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Sports Administration, Management, or related field required
