Head Track Coach [0605/24/04]

JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction, the Head Track Coach coaches individuals and groups regarding track and field activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establishes workout programs for all participants of the track program and supervises participants at all times.

• Explains and demonstrate proper use of equipment, instructs athletes in proper track and field techniques, observes athletes to detect and correct mistakes, and provides feedback on performance.

• Coordinates track and field competitive events, and organizes athletes and ensures attendance at events.

• Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints.

• Attends all Circuit, Regional & State meets that any Euless track team members are participating in.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of pertinent laws, codes, and safety regulations, track and field competition rules and procedures.

• Ability to work varied days and hours.

• Knowledge of modern principles/practices of track and field program development and implementation.

• Must have good communication skills and the ability to work with the public.

• Must have excellent communication and organizational skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of one-year experience organizing track and field events to include a minimum of 1 year as an assistant coach is required. Must be able to work varied days and hours. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Sitting; standing; walking; pushing/pulling loads up to 70lbs. (carts loaded with tables and chairs); verbal communication; lifting/carrying loads up to 55 lbs.; stair/ladder climbing; overhead reaching; near/distant vision; must be able to set up and take down athletic equipment (volleyball, etc.); moving large and awkward objects (may be required to move the following items by yourself: 72" round tables, 6' long tables, volleyball standards, tumbling mats, etc.). Working in outside temperatures including excess heat, cold, and precipitation.
