REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent or higher degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.

  • At least two years of experience in a classroom setting or combination of two years of experience in both classroom and group settings with young children, and must possess a California Child Development Center Permit or Child Development Teacher Permit (or higher).

  • Advance intellectual and physical development of children, including improving the readiness of children for school by developing their literacy, phonemic, and print awareness, understanding and use of language and increasingly complex and varied vocabulary, appreciation of books understanding of early math and science, problem-solving skills, and approaches to learning;

  • Establish and maintain a healthy learning environment; - Support the social and emotional development of children; and

  • Encourage family involvement of the children in a Head Start program and support the development of relationships between children and their families. Desirable: Bilingual in English and in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or Vietnamese.

Position: HEAD START TEACHER (Head Start/State Preschool Program) PART DAY Hours: 8 hours per day (7:30am-4:00pm) Months: 10 months per year Monthly Salary: $3,787.57 - $4,833.84 per month Location: Site To Be Determined Number of Positions: 2 Definition: Under general supervision, to plan and implement learning and enrichment experiences for pre-school age children; to provide for the physical care and safety of children; to monitor assigned assistants; to maintain official documents and records; implement performance standards and licensing regulations as required by federal and state regulations and to perform related work as assigned. Provides health education for students, parents, teachers and other Early Head Start/Head Start/State Preschool personnel; coordinates the activities of the Health Advisory Committee; implements Head Start Performance Standards in the area of health services and improves the overall health of children and their families through assessment, education and referrals. <br><br> Establish procedures in accordance with the Performance Standards, licensing, state and local regulations and assure that all relevant regulations are maintained.
