The Head Start Foater teacher:

Implements the Tools of the Mind curriculum with the guidance from the Reggio Emilia philosophy to promote children's development and learning.

Use assessment data analyzed by teacher teams in Teaching Strategies GOLD to guide curriculum and individual/group plan decisions.

Prioritize the health/safety and social/emotional well-being for children in the program and to promote a culture of excellence and family

Qualified candidates will possess:

High School Diploma

One year of experience working with children

Active BLS CPR card

Must obtain a preschool CDA within 6 months of hire

Work Schedule:

Full time days

The Lourie Center for Children's Social & Emotional Wellness is a private, non-profit agency with a mission to improve the social and emotional health of young children and their families through prevention, early intervention, education, research and training. The Lourie Center has four core programs serving children birth through age 12 and their families: Head Start, The Lourie Center School, The Therapeutic Nursery Program and Parent-Child Clinical Services. The Early Head Start Lead Teacher: Assists in co-constructing, researching, documenting, planning, organizing, implementing and advocating for children 6 weeks – 3 years old in a culturally responsive environment that is relationship based and rich in materials and possibilities. They observe and listen in collaboration with their colleagues to children to know how to proceed with the work. Teachers will develop and implement individual plans for children. They are responsible for implementing to fidelity the research based curriculum, and the ongoing assessment, Teaching Strategies GOLD, using research based instructional practices, working together on a team, aligning of materials and resources to support strong child outcomes, and other teacher leadership responsibilities. Qualified candidates will possess: High School Diploma 1 year working directly with children in an approved setting.
