The Teacher Civilian position is 100% grant-funded with an anticipated grant end date of June 2025.
This position is safety-sensitive and therefore requires pre-employment verifications including, but not limited to, child-sensitive background checks and new hire physical.
Under the supervision of the Lead Teacher/Center Supervisor, the Teacher will provide a well-planned, developmentally appropriate curriculum for assigned children and carry out supplementary activities related to the education component.
Assesses children's developmental level and plans program to meet their individual needs, organizes the classroom to meet the needs of the children and provides the best environment for the curriculum; writes and implements lesson plans with the help of the Teacher Assistant; involves parents in the education of their child and encourages them to become involved in all aspects of the program; supervises Teacher Assistant, Volunteers and other assigned workers and provides training for parents.
Associates or Bachelors Degree or in Early Childhood Education or a related field with a minimum of 1 year or more of experience with 3 or 4-year-old children in a pre-school classroom setting. Student teaching will fulfill the requirement of 1 year of experience. If Associate, Bachelor or Masters Degree in ECE, student teaching experience would qualify applicants.
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood with preschool certification or a Bachelor's Degree in Child and Families Studies with preschool certification. The applicant should have demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities as follows: knowledge about child growth and development; needs of children and the ability to communicate with children and adults.

Must have a physical examination and TB skin test or chest X-ray prior to working with children. Must be able to pass requirements of the Physical/Environment Demands Worksheet for this position.

2.Observes, assesses, refers and evaluates each child's progress in assigned classroom activities based on the individual needs of the children to advance physical and intellectual competence.
3.Promotes social-emotional development, language development and maintains classroom discipline using positive guidance techniques.
4.Maintains positive communication, involves parents as the primary educator of their children and conducts workshops/meetings to address the parent's needs and interests.
5.Prepares and maintains records and submits reports as required; attends meetings and required training.
6.Demonstrates work habits which comply with agency personnel policies and procedures, completes special assignments from immediate supervisor or Head Start/EHS Director.
