Position Description
This is a full time, Non-Civil Service position with Metro Action Commission.TheHead Start Teacher 2,Head Start Teacher 1, and
Early Head StartTeacher isunder the direct supervision of the Head Start Center Manager and the general supervision of Head Start Assistant Center Manager.
Head Start Teacher 2 - $52,000.00
Head Start Teacher 1 - $50,000.00
Early Head Start Teacher (Infant/Toddler Teacher) - $45,000.00
Typical Duties
Help children develop socially, intellectually, physically, and emotionally
Plan, document, and implement daily lesson plans and special activities
Attend staff meetings, training and other related meetings as requested
Responsible for all consultation(s) with parents
Maintain current records, perform tasks associated with the education component, and assure confidentiality
Maintain proper supervision of children at all times indoors and outdoors
Document and implement integration of component events in the classroom (i.e., handwashing, toileting, tooth brushing, preparing children for health services and community visits)
Report any children concerns to the (assigned) Parent, Family, Community,and Engagement Advocate
Report suspected child abuse or neglect to the immediate supervisor
Insure daily implementation of the family style food service
Support and assist volunteers serving in the education program
Assume other task-related duties as requested
Minimum Qualifications
HS Teacher 2 - Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
HS Teacher 1 - Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education or Equivalent.
EHS Teacher- Infant/ Toddler Child Development Associates (CDA) Credential or equivalentcoursework and has been trained in early childhood development.
Valid Driver License.
Official College Transcripts- If you wish to qualify, we need a copy of your official college transcript sent from the university or college.
Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078. All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.
Preferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Previous work experience with young children
Certification in Early Childhood Education
