Under the direction of the Cafeteria Manager the incumbent is responsible for the preparation and service of meals and the implementation of the food service program in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and USDA guidelines.
Supervision Exercised: None
Typical Physical Demands: Physical stamina is required to tolerate continuous standing, stooping, reaching, grasping, kneeling, walking, bending, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Requires full range of body motion, including manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Occasionally requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Requires the completion and acceptable results of a physical examination and TB screening per the rules and regulations of the Head Start Program.
Typical Working Conditions: Duties are typically performed in areas related to cafeteria and kitchen and performed while walking or standing.
The ability to withstand temperature variances common to food service facilities is required. May require automobile travel to various branches, training, seminars and workshops.
Observes and promotes safe work practices and procedure while maintaining sanitation and cleanliness in the food service area.
Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of all dishes, cooking utensils, equipment, and various other food service items found in a cafeteria setting.
Assists in the preparation of purchase orders for food and supplies according to established policies and procedures.
Assists the Cafeteria Manager with receiving and storing food in accordance with Head Start Program guidelines.
Assists in the serving of meals and snacks according to established timeline.
Accurately completes and submits all required daily, weekly, and monthly food service reports.
Adheres to uniform and personal hygiene requirements.

High School Diploma or satisfactory completion of the GED.
One to three years' previous experience in cafeteria setting preferred.
Certifications required within 45 days of hire: CPR/AED, BBP, and First Aid
Excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills with the ability to effectively manage others.
Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
