Capital Area Head Start is seeking full time Family Support Specialist to join our mission in providing a comprehensive child development program designed to give children a head start in life, empowering parents and strengthening families. The Family Support Specialist is responsible for providing direct services to families with multiple and complex needs. Services include education, home visits, goal development, access to community resources and attendance monitoring and support.
$11.74 per hour, pay may increase based on education and/or experience
Salaried, Non Exempt position, Standard biweekly salary paid throughout the entire year
Schedule is based on the school year and does not require work during the summer months

Minimum Educational Requirements:(One of the following)
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years of experience working with at risk families
Associates degree in human services and 1 year of experience working with at risk families
Bachelor's degree in social work or related field
Additional Minimum Requirements:
Valid credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field or the ability to obtain one within 18 months of employment
Significant experience/knowledge regarding community resources including emergency assistance providers, understanding of community systems and programs and ability to navigate/access them with families
Basic computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and learn web based systems
Ability to maintain tracking systems, analyze data, create written materials and form templates
Valid driver's license and access to properly insured vehicle, or public transportation
Successful completion of pre-employment process, including Criminal History, MVR, Child Abuse and FBI clearances
Participation in Head Start or Early Head Start
