PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Integrate Head Start and District Pre-K programs. Develop and evaluate the curriculum of the program.

Assist with supervision of Head Start teachers and assistants. Manage the Head Start Education Component. Assure that Head Start Performance Standards are met. Provide data analysis of required Head Start and District assessments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field, required
Texas Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood, required
Principal or Mid-management certificate preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of Early Childhood curriculum
Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
Ability to compile assessment data for analysis
Experience:
Three years experience as Pre-K classroom teacher
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Instructional Effectiveness
Address educational needs of Head Start Students.
Develop/recruit and implement innovative instructional programs.
Provide, develop/recruit, and recommend professional development opportunities for staff.
Coordinate educational field trips, activities, and events.
Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in implementing curriculum and accomplishing instructional goals.
Administrative Effectiveness
Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of the Federal Head Start Program and guidelines.
Provide monthly training opportunities for parents.
Communicate effectively and professionally with staff, students, and parents.
Conduct classroom / educational observations and model lessons to assist in improvement of performance/instruction.
Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement.
Show initiative to develop/enhance needed professional skills appropriate to job assignment.
Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Some state and district wide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
School or Organizational Morale
Maintain effective relations with parents, businesses, and other outside education agencies by communicating the district/campus mission, programs and services in a way that generates support.
Provide technical troubleshooting as needed.
Communicate effectively with staff, students and parents.
Assessment/ Evaluation
Collect and input student test data by class, gender, ethnicity, etc.
Generate written and graphic reports and articulate findings to staff.
Conduct weekly Professional Learning Communities.
Hold DDI meetings following data collections.
Professional Growth and Development
Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignment.
Participate in district technology liaison meetings as time and need permits.
Perform duties in a professional, ethical, and responsible manner as defined in the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators.
Serves as Public Relations Liaison

The State Board for Educator Certification will require all first time applicants for an initial credential to be fingerprinted as part of a national criminal background check. A cost of up to $49. 00 will be charged for fingerprinting.
