This is a role that reports directly to the Head, SLS SCM and is well suited to an ambitious people leader, looking for the next step in their career. As the Head, Integrated Business Planning you will lead the SLS Integrated Business Planning team and be responsible for end-to-end supply chain planning in support of SLS commercial objectives. This is a highly visible leadership role leading a team that will be responsible for developing and deploying a unified demand, production, and operations planning process.

With the continued globalization of supply chains and increased reliance on internal and external partners to meet customer and business needs, the Head, SLS Integrated Business Planning will be responsible for and focused on:

Your role:

  • Leading the implementation of the SLS IBP process and gaining broad, ongoing organizational support and adoption of the IBP vision. Provide analysis/data-driven insights to the SLS business to improve control and utilization of resources (i.e., inventory, capital, human).

  • Ensuring design of the IBP process reflects best practices while supporting organizational structure, accountabilities, and complexities.

  • Contributing to high forecast accuracy by partnering with Finance and Commercial to fully leverage financial and sales indicators in SLS IBP decision-making processes and to streamline the regular budgeting and forecast process using harmonized data/information and statistical insights.

  • Establishing a collaboration strategy with Manufacturing site heads and Head, SLS External Manufacturing to drive predictable and accurate planning and delivery.

  • Developing a team of global Demand and Supply planners with modern skillsets to accurately forecast demand for the SLS product lines while also ensuring supply plans for the planning horizon.

  • Developing and implementing demand and supply planning strategies, standard processes and related procedures that align with the organization's goals and objectives and deliver an efficient and effective customer experience. Ensure collaboration and coordination across other business lines, to leverage potential synergies while maintaining high focus on SLS product lines.

  • Establishing a data driven approach, framework, and procedures to optimize inventory levels for raw material, WIP and finished goods; ensure close alignment with procurement and drive to increase OTIF, minimize stockouts, and reduce excess inventory and scrap.

  • Performance Monitoring: establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure supply planning effectiveness. Monitor KPIs regularly and ensure tools and processes identify root cause and drive a corrective action and accuracy culture through the IBP process.

  • Drive harmonization across the demand and supply planning process for a dynamic portfolio of new, active, and end-of-life products with various product types such as reagents, consumables, instruments, and accessories.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to continuously improve the IBP cycle execution delivering outcome supporting the business strategy at optimal cost.

  • Risk surveillance and management: identify potential supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions. Proactively monitor market trends, supplier performance, and external factors that may impact the supply planning process.

  • Owning and developing production and supplier capacity models and key levers to optimize manufacturing and suppliers for optimized total cost of supply, considering make-to-stock and make-to-order approaches.

  • Developing strategic plans to guide forecast reliability and ensure continuous service level improvement for long term performance.

  • Leveraging experience in cross-site development to lead and develop teams in multiple countries with different cultures, languages, and manufacturing environments.

Required skills to have for the success of this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations management, business administration, or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.

  • Ability to lead transformational projects with a strategic mindset, critical thinking, and willingness to challenge the status quo.

  • Demonstrated change management skills and executive presence; interpersonal, organizational and communication skills at all levels in the organization.

  • Fluency in data analysis, predictive analytics, data insights and exposure to AI/ML.

  • High proficiency in Office 365 (i.e., Excel, PowerBI, and Qlik) and well demonstrated skills in using SCM Planning software products, experience with Kinaxis is preferred.

  • Strong project management and facilitation skills with the demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge of supply/demand planning principles, best practices, and industry trends.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proficiency in data analysis and demand forecasting techniques.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead global teams with a track record of talent development.

  • Clear thinker who can cut complexities coupled with a sense of pragmatism, strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • 10-15 years in supply planning, demand forecasting, financial controlling, or related roles within the supply chain field. Experience in a leadership position is preferred.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20% or as needed.

Desired skills to have for the success of this role:

  • Strong and practical understanding of medical device development and manufacturing preferred.

  • Relentless focus on data gathering and cleaning for accurate and actionable insights.

  • Operations and demand planning experience, including with the software/systems for intake and analysis of the business line-owned data.

  • Experience working in a regulated / FDA environment & understanding of GMP and applying GMP practices and standards in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge and understanding of a Quality Management System and Regulatory processes including 21 CFR 820, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601-1, IEC 62366, and IEC 62304 standards is beneficial.
