Job Summary
Responsible for innovating, goal-setting, managing, leading, integrating, marketing, and assessing all functions of research services including reference and information literacy instruction in partnership and support of Georgia Gwinnett College's student success and research goals. This position provides administrative vision, leadership, and management in the development of innovative and high-quality reference and information literacy instructional services for students, faculty, and staff of Georgia Gwinnett College including policy and procedure development, serving as a member of the Dean's Leadership Team. This position directly supervises and evaluates Research Services librarians and staff and serves as a liaison with other Kaufman Library departments as well as campus and community stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Function 1 -
Leads, manages, and assesses all aspects of reference and information literacy instruction including face-to-face and virtual contributions via a variety of formats
Function 2 -
Develops and implements departmental qualitative and quantitative assessments and participates in Library-wide assessment initiatives
Function 3 -
Directly supervises, mentors, and evaluates all Research Services librarians and staff
Function 4 -
Manages departmental administrative/strategic planning and policy development and implementation along with annual reporting of departmental progress
Function 5 -
Performs liaison work with internal and external library stakeholders
Function 6 -
Performs other duties as required
Required Qualifications
American Library Association-accredited or University System of Georgia Board of Regents-approved Master's Degree in Library or Library Science
Two or more years of supervisory experience in a library
Preferred Qualifications
Evidence of experiences developing, implementing, marketing, and assessing innovative approaches to offering reference, pedagogical practices, information literacy, and instructional technology
Evidence of experience of qualitative and quantitative assessment of reference and information literacy instruction including analysis of results
Evidence of experience in policy and procedure development and implementation
Evidence of experience with technology including reference software, Springshare's suite of software, other educational technology products, and learning management systems
Evidence of contributions to professional scholarship and service as well as professional development
Three or more years of librarian supervision experience in an academic setting
Evidence of commitment to user-centered service to students and faculty in an academic institution contributing to student success and retention
Evidence of experience in mentoring and promoting professional development for direct reports
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Evidence of substantial knowledge and understanding of key issues and trends in reference, information literacy, educational technology, pedagogical practices, assessment, academic libraries, and higher education
Evidence of ability to initiate innovative ideas
Evidence of commitment to user-centered service
Evidence of effective communication, interpersonal relationships, and collaborative efforts involving diverse users both internally and externally
