As the head of the NFF Solutions Architecture team, this position provides leadership and guidance in adopting and furthering the vision set out as part of the Nasdaq Financial Framework. The Nasdaq Financial Framework is a strategic initiative to transform the way in which Nasdaq develops and delivers software, levering microservices, cloud deployment and modern interfaces. This initiative is targeting growth through the transition to a Software as a Service company, and simultaneously supporting our existing Enterprise Software Delivery customers.

The Team

Enterprise Architecture and Performance Engineering is responsible for connecting the business strategy and the technical strategy across our global business and technology teams. The NFF Solutions Architecture team is responsible for architectural leadership to the development teams focused on Nasdaq's strategic initiative to transform the way in which we develop and delivery software, the Nasdaq Financial Framework (NFF). The Solutions Architecture team is represented in all major development centers across the globe, including New York, Boston, Stockholm and Sydney, and supports technology initiatives in Bangalore and Lakewood, CO.

The Role

As the Head of the NFF (Nasdaq Financial Framework) Solutions Architecture team, you will provide leadership and guidance in adopting and furthering the vision set out as part of the NFF. This is a strategic initiative to transform the way in which Nasdaq develops and delivers software, leveraging microservices, cloud deployment and modern interfaces. This initiative is targeting growth through the transition to a Software as a Service company, and simultaneously supports our existing Enterprise Software Delivery customers.

The role holder will work in a dynamic environment, applying a wide range of skills to address emerging and strategic goals and issues to drive the success of the organization and its initiatives under the NFF. Supporting development and delivery across the globe, the role holder will have unparalleled opportunities to work across boundaries to solve the most challenging problems in the financial industry today.

You will need to demonstrate skills/experience in

  • 15+ years of experience in software architecture and engineering roles

  • Experience managing distributed teams of 5-10 people

  • Understanding of the full software development lifecycle

  • Broad range of knowledge and experience from hardware to software

  • Demonstrates a grasp of modern and emerging technologies that may impact our technology and business

  • Demonstrated knowledge in Security considerations in architecture and design for pubic facing systems

  • Experience in software development in Java and C/C++

  • Demonstrated knowledge of considerations for high throughput / low latency systems architecture and engineering

  • Understanding of consensus and failover strategies and models

  • Experience designing and developing fault tolerance and scalable systems

And it would be great if you also have experience in

  • Knowledge of full trade lifecycle and major processing steps, and with one or more technical implementations or systems in this space

  • Understanding of Nasdaq's main business areas, including Trading, Clearing, Settlement, Risk Management, Market Surveillance and Market Data

  • Experience applying Model Driven Engineering

  • Thorough understanding of the financial markets

  • Experience / knowledge of kubernetes and serverless computing

  • Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment

  • Applying Agile development practices to regulated industries

  • Applied knowledge of Cloud Services

  • Experience in optimizing Big Data storage and access patterns

  • Education Required: Masters' degree in a discipline related to Computer Science, Information Systems. MBA qualification, or equivalent experience.

  • Experienced in managing distributed teams of 5-10 people

    Specialized development in commercial or business acumen, financial or strategic thinking, new product development.

General Description This position is responsible to lead the Land Transport (LT) related IT teams within the region Americas. Main purpose of this role is to continuously develop and orchestrate Land Transport related capabilities underpinning current and future Schenker business needs in line with global/regional IT & D strategy and services. Initial key focus at this stage will be region wide deployment of a core transport management solution (TMS) and buildup of related capabilities. Specific Accountabilities * Establish, maintain and execute IT & D Americas roadmap reflecting Land transport business needs for the region Americas as well as global and regional IT strategy. * Delivery of all IT projects within the Americas in close collaboration with respective customers, business areas and orchestrating regional / global shared IT services. Qualify and drive achievement of IT project benefits. * Current key projects are the solution designing, implementation and rollout of an Americas TMS including vendor management, system integration and service / support setup as well as migration from DDS (legacy LT TMS) to the new TMS and decommissioning of legacy systems. * Transitioning of the teams of legacy systems into teams that will support and maintain the future TMS in the Americas region. * Lead, develop & coach LT IT & D team in content, soft skills and digital transformation. For RHO based resources this is disciplinary and functional lead, for country or shared service-based resources this is through functional lead (matrix organization) * Ensure overall health of LT IT environments and services. * Ensure information as well as cyber security and protect entrusted company and customer data at minimum in line with regulations and company policy. * Identify Digital opportunities and drive Digital transformation within the Americas * Establish efficient communication processes and structures between all parties required to assure stable and reliable IT services for all in scope areas of the region Americas * Manage and optimize entrusted IT funds in line with targets, identify opportunities and prioritize investment needs. * Drive business process and systems harmonization as well as regional/global IT service consolidation within the Americas. * Form active part of regional Americas leadership team, the Americas IT & D leadership team as well as the DBS global IT Land leadership team. * Challenge yourself and your peers / staff / superiors in living our company values and striving for our company objectives.
