Head of IT Infrastructure Engineering and Operations

As Head of Technology Support & Operations you provide the progressive leadership and vision needed to support Silicon Valley Bank (SVB)'s technologies that serve our customers on a daily basis. Your thought leadership is needed to advance our end user services, development operations, infrastructure engineering, network, production operations, and data center management capabilities and services. The right candidate for this critical role will balance keeping the bank's systems up, operational and secure, while driving the change needed to embrace innovative methods and technology, such as automation, big data analytics, IaaS, PaaS, and Cloud. Our clients and business growth dictate a pace that enables us to release new features frequently, pivot quickly, and expand efficiently while always operating within the appropriate financial services controls and policies. Your challenge is to define the vision while leading and strengthening the team and services that will deliver superior system performance and resiliency to support our growth objectives.

Your business acumen will be critical to extend our strategic partnerships to deliver solutions and support scalable growth while being highly secure. Your team will is responsible for deploying and supporting our next generation of equipment. Your ability to apply sound fiscal management practices will enable SVB's value/cost proposition. S/he will be responsible for building and developing an exceptionally talented operations and support organization. The ideal candidate is a deep technologist with a proven track record of building large scalable networks, datacenters and end user computing services. A creative thinker and problem solver that is very comfortable with IT standards. Your breadth of vision is grounded in past experiences in other technology disciplines such as project management and software development. You will engage regularly with the CIO, CTO, CSO, Internal Audit, IT colleagues, and business partners.

S/he must be able to work with multiple teams simultaneously and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Includes End User Services and Technical Support (Tier 1, 2 and 3), Development Operations, Asset Management, Security Program, Infrastructure Engineering, Network Operations, Data Center Management, and Production Operations.

  • Planning and implementation leadership, identifying opportunities for automation, cost savings, and service quality improvement.

  • Provides infrastructure services vision, enables innovation and seeks to leverage technology trends that can create business value consistent with the company's requirements and expectations.

  • Partners with colleagues to lead the technology infrastructure operations and execution for the enterprise, supporting a highly scalable and redundant environment.

  • Provides sound fiscal management to budgets (capital and expenses) for acquisition of equipment, maintenance and services.

  • Develops the team and mentors talent to deliver the technology management and execution capabilities of the organization. Enable a constantly learning environment.

  • Experience with comprehensive technology delivery that is secure and reliable including disaster recovery architecture and operations storage area network and redundant, highly-available server and network architectures.

  • Working closely with multi-team technical resources, engineering managers and other stakeholders to ensure our systems function within SLA and that outages are dealt with rapidly and effectively

  • Direct and manage 24x7 global production operations in order to provide world-class un-interruptible service to SVB and our customers

  • Build a metrics-driven culture supported by cutting edge reporting technology and best-in-class education and training opportunities

  • Continuously evaluate the current state of the operations architecture, services and security to maintain alignment with company goals and objectives

  • Design and build or leverage partner tooling and technology to provide operational visibility into the performance and resiliency of systems and business processes.

  • Communicates the business benefits of your teams' initiatives to senior business stakeholders ensuring their total support and buy-in.

  • Performs end-to-end systems infrastructure design, capacity planning and performance management

Qualifications:

  • Background in Systems Administration and Network Engineering

  • Experience leading and driving business-critical people, process and technology change

  • Experience with leading edge practices, tools and technology, to include; Cloud computing, IaaS, Development Operations, Agile, big data analytics

  • Experience supporting a SaaS business a plus

  • Global operations and Financial Services experience preferred

  • Experience working in a regulated environment; PCI experience a plus

  • Proven vendor management expertise

  • Experience building and leading distributed teams

  • Experience analyzing critical infrastructure risks and implementing mitigation plans

  • In depth knowledge of infrastructure & operations technology best practices, including environment controls, security systems, firewall technology, backup power systems, job automation, monitoring and alerting systems, ITIL

  • Operations experience including capacity planning and forecasting, risk management, including response and recover and business continuity

  • Strong leadership and C-Suite/Board communication skills

  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics preferred

  • Available to travel

This positions reports to the CIO and is based in Tempe, Arizona.

This position supervises a team of couriers who are responsible for deliveries in the assigned market and ensures that couriers follow all standard operating procedures and that customer experience objectives are consistently met. This position also supervises the SameDayCity (SDC) Quality Specialist who is responsible for ensuring that SDC couriers receive proper training, that all equipment is operating properly, and performs routine audits and ride-alongs to ensure that couriers are following proper procedures. The Transportation Operations Manager works closely with the National Dispatch Center and other Quality teams in order to improve on-time performance, safety, and customer experience in the assigned market. The Transportation Operations Manager also acts as the champion to implement programs and process changes in the field. General Duties and Responsibilities (This is a representative list of the general duties the position may be asked to perform, and is not intended to be all-inclusive) * Lead and manage a team by training, developing and coaching team members on a consistent basis * Hire team members and monitor new hire orientation procedures * Train team members on all aspects of job duties as well as FedEx Office Standard Operating Procedures and FedEx Office policies and procedures * Ensure compliance with FedEx Office Standard Operating Procedures and all FedEx Office policies and procedures for all team members * Evaluate the efficiency and productivity of team members based on established performance standards and objectives, including conducting regular Operations Reviews and Performance Appraisals * Ensure that all team members provide a positive customer experience * Coach, counsel, discipline and/or terminate team members when performance issues or violations of FedEx Office Standard Operating Procedures and/or FedEx Office policies and procedures occur * Responsible for on-time performance in local market.
