Reporting to the Chief Business Officer, the Head of Investor Relations and Equity Capital Markets is responsible for developing and executing Alector's investor relations program and leading the management of the company's relationships with the financial community and fundraising efforts. Alector is a science-oriented company and continued effective communication of our cutting edge, innovative science to the investor community is a critical pillar of our evolution.

With input and guidance from the CEO, CBO and other key executives, the Head of IR & ECM will manage all aspects of investor relations and capital markets, including a comprehensive investor targeting strategy to expand/diversify our shareholders, maintain a best in class approach to managing sell-side analysts, and design, schedule and execute key events such as R&D days, earnings calls and analyst events. You will play an active role in corporate message development, all while maintaining a highly collaborative approach.

Moreover, you will play a central role in growing Alector and guiding its direction. You will be influential in championing and developing Alector's culture.

During the first year, your goals will include:

  • Developing a deep and thorough understanding of the company's science, R&D pipeline, and strategy and be able to articulate this in a clear, compelling, and precise fashion to both internal and external audiences to facilitate our key business goals

  • Partnering with CBO, CEO, and other executives to play a key leadership role in financing activities, including financing strategy and managing relationships within the banking community

  • Leading the development of a targeted investor relations strategy and execution of that strategy in order to maximize the company's long-term value creation

  • Leading the engagement of Alector with the buy-side and sell-side community, including acting as the primary contact for Alector's investment banking interactions

  • Orchestrating quarterly earnings processes, from conceptualization to execution, including preparation meetings and drafting earnings releases and quarterly earnings materials to ensure the highest level representation of Alector as a public company

  • Maintaining an IR calendar that includes strategic decisions on company and executive participation in investor conferences, non-deal roadshows and analyst/investor meetings

  • Leading the planning and implementing of investor events, such as R&D Days

We'd love to hear from you if:

  • You are very accomplished, with a successful track record and a minimum of 10+ years of experience in investor relations, finance and investments in Biotech or the Life Sciences industry

  • PhD, MD or other advanced degree strongly preferred; MBA preferred but not required

  • You have demonstrated a strong ability to perform in-depth analyses of science and technology and distill this information to efficiently communicate to the investment community

  • You take pride in being persistent, innovative, and strategic

  • You have demonstrated success in managing external relationships with the financial community and have established relationships with industry analysts, institutional investors and media organizations

  • You possess strong communication skills, with the ability to translate and simplify complex information for research analysts, investors and the public

  • You have a demonstrated track record of being a great teammate and a strong leader, with experience leading a fast-growing organization. You take pride in coaching and mentoring other members of team on all aspects of the IR and fundraising process

  • You have a strong point of view but are low ego

Job Description: The position reports to the Director of Accounting & SEC Reporting and will be integral in all accounting operations. The ideal candidate will be able to work well with cross functional teams providing guidance and making decisions as well as being able to streamline operations for the business, while being hands on the general ledger, monthly-close and financial system processes and implementations. The successful candidate must possess both strong operational experience as well as solid accounting principles. That person will also demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to manage a team and growing processes and organization. * Integral in accounting operations, including partnering with other functions to execute the financial close process, including timely and accurate review, approval of month-end and accounting transactions and maintenance on chart of accounts, general ledger and sub-ledgers * Drive efforts to integrate our financial systems, including procurement to payment, payroll and equity in an ERP environment. Develop efficient processes and implement systems scalable for growth. * Implement process improvements to the general accounting functions to drive operational efficiencies while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the underlying accounting records. * Design implementations to ensure proper management associated with expense reimbursement, including Company credit cards.
