Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President, Human Resources will provide human resource functional and strategic leadership to the organization, working with the leadership team to develop and execute the people strategy to help achieve the organizational objectives. Functionally, s/he will be responsible for talent management, labor and employee relations, benefits, compensation, learning and development, organizational design, internal communications, charitable giving, compliance and facilities, including leadership of a team of 14. Functions as a strategic business advisor to the CEO, Board of Directors and leadership team.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and execute comprehensive staffing and retention plans to meet organizational needs in both corporate and plant environments

  • Define the candidate and employee experience from talent acquisition through on-boarding, development and separation by creating and implementing innovative approaches that create a competitive advantage for the organization

  • Develop and execute labor relations workplace and contract negotiation strategies to support the needs of the business

  • Continuously assess and ensure cost effective competitiveness of compensation, benefits and other programs and practices

  • Provide ongoing direction, advice and counsel on organization design through a deep understanding of the business operations, systems, processes and functions

  • Work with the leadership team to create the internal communications strategy and tone as well as the processes and tools

  • Serve as management lead for the Compensation Committee and Nominating and Governance Committee of the Welch Board of Directors as well as the management lead for the Compensation Committee of the National Board of Directors

  • Participate as a key member of the senior management team and Officer of Welch Foods, Inc., lending guidance and counsel on overall business and strategy direction

  • Oversee all building operations for the Concord Corporate office

Who You Are:

  • A business-minded professional with demonstrated expertise in Human Resources across a variety of HR disciplines including staffing, change leadership, labor relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, organizational design, training and development

  • A strong visionary leader able to champion and influence cross-functionally throughout the organization - results oriented possessing a hands-on, high action mindset

  • A proven driver of change with a union workforce

  • A trusted advisor to members of the executive team and to the broader colleague base as well

  • Ideally you started your career in a larger organization, which tends to provide classic training and discipline, and then you've also worked in a smaller company with a broader span of responsibility, requiring flexing between working strategically and tactically

  • A collaborative colleague who brings energy, empathy, a sense of humor, and the ability to engage with others both professionally and personally - executives with large egos do not find success in our culture

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • MBA would be a plus
  • 15 plus years' experience in Human Resources, at least 5 of which have been at an executive level

  • Must have union/labor relations management experience, CPG experience a plus

  • SHRM-SCP certification a plus

  • Ability and willingness to travel ~20%

This role will be based in Concord, MA. Job Summary: * Enhances and builds the capability of the business by incorporating the people component into strategic planning, development and assessment. * Conducts up front organizational needs assessment to determine appropriate interventions and solutions, including which HR SMEs to engage to accomplish the task/goal. * Ensures effective execution of HR services to the business and a positive customer experience; partnering with HR SMEs to understand all services requested/delivered, monitoring performance and course correcting as necessary * Advises and coaches leaders on matters related to talent management, including competency requirements, workforce planning, leadership selection and coaching, performance management, retention, succession planning, etc. * Conducts scenario planning with regards to organizational design based on future business needs * Acts as a leader for change management work around HR initiatives * Understands the talent needs of the business and identifies talent issues (holistic and individual) before the business is impacted. * Drives goal alignment at the enterprise level, ensuring alignment in business priorities and measureable objectives * Partners with leaders and managers in the yearly planning and budgeting process as it relates to human capital needs for their client groups to ensure effective workforce planning. * Provides high-quality, consistent HR advice, support and resolution to managers, employees and outside parties, in order to maximize customer efficiency, effectiveness and confidence. * Partner with all members of the HR team including subject matter experts to develop and deliver integrated people and organization solutions, e.g., workforce and succession planning, leadership development, reward and recognition, etc. * Delivers HR programs including organizational design and restructuring, development and training activities, employee relations, and performance management to managers and employees to ensure they are equipped to meet the organization's business goals and mission. * Drives coordination and facilitation of cyclical HR initiatives such as workforce planning, new hire training, performance review, talent review, succession planning, compensation planning and review for their client groups. Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience. * 5+ years Human Resources experience required, specifically focused on organizational design and effectiveness. * Broad technical expertise in employee relations, staffing and retention, compensation and benefits, policy application, change/transition management processes, coaching, and communications * Ability to articulate and advance a strong point of view at a multi-functional and enterprise level, as well as within HR while being open to differing points of view. * Strong business acumen; looks at business issues as a business person and then applies HR knowledge and expertise. * Ability to translate complex business issues into HR implications, and HR solutions into business-impacting solutions. * Ability to understand the workflow within a functional organization and across the enterprise, understand where to probe for inefficiencies and clarity and lead these discussions with the business. * Established as a trusted advisor and coach for all levels of leadership, utilizing this credibility to resolve business conflict and productively introduce conflict. * Possesses judgment, initiative and tenacity that have been demonstrated in an environment of rapid growth and change. * Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrates a high level of integrity. * Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly with all levels of the organization.
