We are seeking a global leader as the Head of Global Commercial Financial Planning and Analysis reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, who will be a strategic thought-partner to the President of Alnylam, focusing on global commercial operations and medical affairs. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader with global pharmaceutical / biotech experience and will lead in the following areas: local country statutory accounting outside the US, financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and decision support.

The role will drive continuous process improvements and best practices to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the planning and reporting processes in support of the global commercial organization. The role will be responsible for consolidating global commercial revenue and expense results on a monthly basis, understanding actual performance vs. forecast, supporting development of plans to enhance performance, and ensuring key insights are communicated internally.

The role will oversee a team to provide support across the regions where Alnylam has established its commercial operations --- US, CEMEA (Canada, Europe, Middle East, Africa), Asia Pacific, and Latin America.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Lead support for President, Alnylam, including but not limited to statutory accounting, budgets, forecasts, management reporting, and decision support

  • Develop and continuously streamline process to translate information from enterprise reporting platform to management presentations

  • Create and oversee process to track commercial and medical headcount and staff-costs versus forecast and budget

  • Develop country level management reporting to enable review of local country commercial results

  • Prepare monthly global commercial consolidated reporting package to highlight key business results & insights & present results to Global Commercial Leadership Team

  • Oversee ex-US local country statutory accounting, ensuring the highest standards of financial control and compliance in-line with Alnylam's controllership function and with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act

  • Provide support & input on behalf of Global Commercial into the quarterly reporting processes at Alnylam --- 10Q, earnings releases, earnings presentations, etc.

  • Special projects and ad hoc analyses as required by CFO and management

  • Mentor and develop Global Commercial FP&A team in order to achieve department and company goals

Qualifications

  • Must have 15 years' experience in financial planning and analysis roles

  • Prior pharmaceutical / biotech FP&A experience supporting global commercial operations is strongly preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance / Accounting, MBA a plus

  • Strong leadership, problem solving, management and communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with multiple functions

  • Ability to lead and influence cross functional teams

  • Self-starter who can manage through ambiguity, learn on the fly, handle multiple priorities and perform job responsibilities accurately while working in a high energy, deadline-driven, and fast-paced environment

  • Experience and ability to develop and maintain complex financial models to generate key insights

  • Maintain a positive, flexible, client-service attitude with business teams

  • Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
