Job Description
Head of Data Visualization is a thought leader in visualization with heavy technical skills and the ability to work with the business on creating the vision, strategy, and goals around visualizations of information. The Head of Data Visualization focuses on the quality and effectiveness of data visualization processes and lead the organization in data visualization solutions, under the direction of the Chief Data and Analytics Officer.
This position oversees a team of Data Visualization Analysts that act as "data storytelling consultants to consumers of data in the bank. They will collectively enhance the quality and effectiveness of visualizations, data stories, and deliverables through the application of Client visualization techniques and tools.
Primary Responsibilities
Collaborate and align with technical and non-technical stakeholders to translate customer needs into visualization requirements, and work to deliver world-class visualizations, data stories while ensuring data quality and integrity
Provide consultation to all areas of the organization that plan to use data to make decisions.
Support any team members in the development of such information delivery and aid in the automation of visualized products
Maintain an awareness of current research and innovations in the field of data visualization
Identify data visualization tools and techniques that might be utilized by the bank to enhance the quality and effectiveness of our offerings.
Develop and implement a roadmap for enhanced visualization techniques and utilization of self-service data tools.
Act as trusted adviser and partner to business leads-assisting in the identification of business needs & data opportunities, understanding key drivers of performance, crafting of business cases, turning data into business value, and guiding of the overall analytics strategy
Promote use of data by providing meaning to data-interpreting and presenting complex analytical findings in a clear and concise manner (storytelling with data), applying business knowledge to provide meaningful context for data, turning data into insights and action
Help lead democratization of data and analytics across the organization
Provide self-service ad hoc analysis capabilities to further understanding of customer behavior, sales and market trends, pricing and marketing optimization, and new product development
This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
This position is incentive eligible.
This is a single incumbent position.
Requirements
College degree in a technical field or business
Fifteen (15) years of data-oriented experience including experience managing data and analytics resources
Strong technical background including database and business intelligence skills
Strong background in synthesizing data and analytics in a large (fortune 500), complex, and highly regulated environment. Experience developing solutions for the financial services industry is a plus
Experience building information solutions with large data sets
Significant experience working with senior executives in the use of data and visualizations to support strategic and operational decision making.
Strong ability to transform and integrate complex data from multiple sources into accessible, understandable and usable information via easy-to-use visualization frameworks.
Proven change agent and business intelligence champion within a large, multi-division corporation.
