VP of Mortgage Originations (Recapture) Locations : Salt Lake City, Jacksonville, or Dallas, TX Position Summary: The Vice President (VP) Consumer Direct Originations is a senior leader supporting our mortgage loan origination product offerings to our customer base, contributing to the overall strategy, development and execution of our mortgage originations business platform.
The VP is responsible for delivering superior service, communication and production support to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth consumer transactions from start to finish. This role includes managing team development, performance, compliance with state and federal laws, continuous improvement through data, technology management, and effective customer communication. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned. Develop talent to build out the Consumer Direct team to staff all origination functions including sales and operations with a focus on scalability and continued growth. Serve as our clients Qualified Individual and/or Branch Manager to obtain and maintain all state mortgage origination license requirements, including all education requirements.
Own and manage the budget, understanding drivers and overall costs to run the Consumer Direct Originations operation efficiently. Work with the sales team to streamline efforts and maximize funded volume by minimizing gaps and errors. Create, review and implement job aides for Consumer Direct team and monitor changes in investor standards and government regulations, updating policies and procedures accordingly.
Design, implement, and manage performance metrics relevant to organizational goals, ensuring data accuracy, adherence to agency guidelines, industry best practices and compliance with all state and federal. Drive measurable improvements by optimizing workflows through technology and best practices. Provide leadership and guidance to direct and indirect reports, fostering a culture of continuous development and performance excellence.
Identify and act on opportunities for business and process improvements. Evaluate and respond to internal and external reviews and audits related to quality assurance, GSE and Agency guidelines, compliance with state and federal laws and regulations and other related areas. Collaborate with IT for system upgrades and emerging needs.
Manage third-party providers to ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Leverage data to drive process improvements and customer satisfaction, updating policies and procedures as needed. Handle additional responsibilities as requested by management to achieve company goals and operational improvements. Equivalent experience10 years of management experience, with at least 5 years in mortgage origination operations including GNMA, FHA, Veterans Affairs (VA), Fannie Mae (FNMA) and Freddie Mac (FHLMC). 5 years of proven experience driving measurable operational improvements using data. 5 years of experience in workflow optimization in mortgage originations.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite and mortgage origination systems, particularly Encompass. Applied knowledge of capital market requirements, state and federal regulatory requirements, government-sponsored enterprise loan programs, FHA, VA and USDA agency guidelines, and mortgage documentation. Experience in leading a highly efficient mortgage operations and sales team.
Experience leading or being a key stakeholder in digital transformation initiatives. Experience implementing and driving operational efficiencies with in-house or third-party technology. Experience using analytics to uncover insights and drive improvements (e.g., regression analysis, ad-hoc queries). Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage operations, sales and/or capital market functions in changing business/market conditions. Self-driven, highly responsive, and analytical with a proactive approach to implementation and growth positioned Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and mentor staff, fostering a positive work environment. Strong planning and organizational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality output.
Ability to make timely, difficult decisions even in challenging situations. Certifications, Licenses and/or Registration: NMLS state licenses enabling VP to serve as Branch Manager and Qualified Individual.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or equivalent experience in mortgage banking originations management. Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; accounts receivable and accounts payable software; electronic mail; internet software; order processing software; inventory software; database software; and loan servicing systems.
