The Asset Based Lending Head of Portfolio Management is a senior level management position with direct supervision of the ABL Portfolio Management Team. This senior leader is responsible for all aspects of leading portfolio management including transaction structuring, underwriting, credit approval, portfolio monitoring and problem loan identification for a $7+ billion portfolio. ABL is a product for the bank. As a result, clients are across the US with concentration in retail, manufacturing, distribution and lender finance. The team is active on sponsor and restructuring credits as well.

This leader will report to Asset Based Lending and Transitional Finance Group Head, and work directly with the Head of ABL, Head of ABL Underwriting, Relationship Management Team Leaders, Portfolio Management Team Leaders, Credit Risk Management and Commercial Restructuring Management to evaluate credit opportunities, manage underwriting workflows on portfolio accounts, maintain portfolio quality, and ensure credit process efficiencies. In addition this leader will:

  • Approve credit requests based on delegated approval authority granted providing critical views on credit requests including new business, amendments, and restructures

  • Assesses credit issues, performance and industry trends, appropriateness of structural terms and conditions, compliance with policy and underwriting guidelines and provides recommendations to improve structure and mitigate risks

  • Oversee the recruitment, training, coaching, assessing and development of Portfolio Management team leaders, portfolio managers and analysts within the ABL team.

  • Maintain an organization where PMs are empowered and highly engaged in delivering credit solutions to our clients and achieve strong collaboration among the coverage teams in the Division

  • Improve workflows, optimize resourcing, and build out an environment that supports the achievement of the ABL Teams goals and budget. As such, this position will be responsible for designing and implementing revised/new policies, procedures, strategies and process changes.

  • Lead corporate initiatives related to model development, credit process improvements and/or stress testing

  • Build a strong control and early warning environment with timely periodic portfolio and financial reviews, ratings assessments, collateral monitoring, tickler reporting, and regulatory compliance to maintain portfolio quality

  • Achieve satisfactory or better ratings from Credit Review and Compliance and meet compliance targets for annual reviews, risk ratings, and covenant compliance monitoring.

  • Liaise with Portfolio Management Team Leader, Credit Risk and workout colleagues on deteriorating credits

  • Partner with product and operations units including Loan Operations, Cash Management, Derivatives, Corporate Card, Leasing, to proactively manage issues so that revenue opportunities are maximized and customer satisfaction is maintained

Qualifications

  • 15+ plus years Asset Based Lending portfolio senior leadership experience with significant experience in sole bank and leading agented transactions

  • Notable experience with recruiting, motivating and top grading a large team of portfolio managers and analyst

  • Experience with direct reports who are managers

  • Balanced approach to enable focus on both business unit goals and risk management objectives

  • Flexible change agent able to lead both process and organizational changes

  • Strong understanding of general credit and risk principles, mitigants, and banking policies and procedures

  • Skilled at developing and implementing both strategic and tactical solutions in support of portfolio administration and business unit goals and objectives

  • Able to multi task and function under pressure to meet deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication and negotiation skills

  • Skilled at developing and executing on strategic solutions and systems in support of Portfolio Administration and business unit goals and objectives

  • BA/BS degree, and/or MBA preferably in Finance, Business Administration or Accounting

VIEW JOBS 10/16/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-14T00:00 The Associate, Commercial Banking is responsible for structuring and underwriting new client credit and capital markets opportunities and performing financial modeling and analysis for highly complex deals. The Associate, Commercial Banking will conduct continuous monitoring of multiple client portfolios and their performance in a proactive and independent manner. As part of an ongoing team approach to best serve and manage client portfolios, the Associate will be accountable for identifying and recommending related ancillary investment and corporate banking products to clients. Associates gain increasing scope of ownership of relationships and are expected to initiate revenue generation activities by their third year in this capacity. This role will make credit decisions and recommendations in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with Bank Policies & Procedures. Client Relationship Management * Prepare capital structure and complete underwriting of new credit and capital markets opportunities * Supports relationship team in identifying new areas of investment/ banking opportunities to diversify client portfolios and increase potential revenue generation. * Create pitch books for clients with respect to financial solutions and participate in their presentation to clients. * Monitor client, client industry and regulatory agencies for potential changes which may affect client's portfolio and business needs. * Prepare concise credit analysis and other correspondence for use in managing client financial standing and goals. * Directly manage a diverse portfolio of private and middle market companies. * Perform activities in line with Associate role and business initiatives that will increase knowledge and experience and work toward gaining increased scope of ownership of relationships. Capital and Credit Risk Analysis * Exercise individually-held Commercial unilateral and approval discretionary limit(s) ensuring credit decisions and/or recommendations are in accordance with sound credit-granting principles and in compliance with the Bank's policies and related procedures completing analysis; confirming security valuations; completing and approving credit applications for authorization under Commercial Lending Process * Protect the Bank's assets and maintain quality of portfolio by adhering to lending processes, policies & procedures, legal and ethical requirements and regulations, audit requirements, and established risk guidelines. * Conduct analysis of client capital and credit risk. * Review and continually monitor performance of existing accounts and client relationships. * Conduct due diligence that includes on-site client visits, analysis of business models, and comprehensive review of industry trends and related regulations. Financial Modeling and Analysis * Create financial models for use in analyzing client portfolios and to best anticipate client needs * Utilize financial analysis to proactively identify opportunities to cross-sell. * Generate updated financial models/ analyses as business needs and industry requirements dictate. Partnership Efforts * Initiate contact with partnered Investment Banking Group areas for new client sales. * Participate in deal teams to develop, present and win mandates for new opportunities. * Partner with Relationship Management staff for accurate, detailed client information. * Coach and mentor individuals in the Analyst role. Knowledge: * An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or accounting. * MBA degree preferred. * 3 years of corporate banking experience as an Analyst in a corporate lending environment. * Knowledge of capital markets, investment banking products and applicable regulations. * This position requires Credit Qualification.
