The challenge

Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) Sites is an integral, tightly integrated member of the AEM product family[1] as well as the Adobe Experience Cloud and has been leading the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Web Content Management (WCM) for eight years in a row[2]. The Head of AEM Sites Engineering will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and architects responsible for developing Adobe's AEM Sites Product which addresses the classical WCM Market, customizable/extensible by System Integrators & Independent Software Vendors for both managed cloud services and on premise, as well as personalized, cross-channel & cross-device experience management, leveraging the full breadth of Adobe Experience Cloud through powerful integrations.

The successful candidate will be a business-savvy technical leader with experience in building enterprise-scale production systems and teaming up with system integrators to deliver customer success for the world's biggest brands.

The team will build and deploy the AEM Sites Product, ensuring its continued success as a major contributor to the Adobe Experience Cloud revenue, while at the same time expanding the business significantly above market growth rates by fully leveraging Adobe's cloud platform[4] and embarking on a journey towards a cloud-native SaaS offering. For this transformation to succeed, this leader will require strong change management skills, experience in leading geographically distributed teams, as well as solid knowledge of cloud services and DevOps principles.

Experience navigating a high-growth matrix organization and using influence over hierarchical power will come handy, as she or he will also be instrumental in collaborating with peers across Adobe to define platform capabilities for AEM Sites (such as resource-based access control, content hierarchy, extensible content/metadata models, versioning, search, machine learning and AI leveraging Adobe Sensei[3]).

What you'll do

  • Envision and strategically plan the long-term product evolution for AEM Sites, with emphasis on continuing to exceed market growth needs, while effectively leveraging and contributing to Adobe's platform efforts across Content and Data and transitioning to a SaaS model.

  • Work with product managers and experience designers to set the delivery and experience roadmaps and support the development of these experiences through the implementation.

  • Brainstorm new ideas how to further leverage artificial intelligence to make the creation and management of digital experiences even more efficient and engaging.

  • Be an engineering thought leader who brings to Adobe the best software practices from the industry peers and continually improves our software delivery and quality processes.

  • Ensure a high level of excellence, customer value, productivity, quality and reliability.

  • Drive customer success across the AEM Sites Product in combination with other AEM and Adobe Experience Cloud products.

  • Support product marketing and the field in finding optimal solutions to time critical business needs.

  • Define and maintain the interfaces exposed to internal and external developers, and drive the implementation of cloud-based capabilities to deliver on the promise of those APIs with an emphasis on value, simplicity, usability, scalability, security and reliability.

  • Keep pace with the evolving technology trends and best practices in software development to take advantage of the industry trends and translate them into best practices.

  • Find and nurture allies across the Adobe executive team to deliver on AEM Sites' strategic and specific business goals. Create and foster tight cooperation between matrix teams.

  • Create an engineering culture that supports innovation and creativity while delivering high quality products delivering value with predictability and reliability.

  • Mentor leaders across the organization in leadership, management, and engineering best practices.

What you need to succeed

  • A proven track record of leading the development and delivery of enterprise level customer success using a product and/or platform in combination with 3rd party system integrators within a high-growth, global matrix environment.

  • Obsession in maximizing customer value through leveraging product and reducing manual labor.

  • Passion for our customer's customer experience of the combined product.

  • Acumen in making large marquee deals happen and owning customer success thereafter.

  • Demonstrated expertise in the domain of content related technologies. Expertise in industry standards and technologies in this domain. Ability to work with open source and standards when appropriate.

  • Ability to spot industry trends. Ability to evaluate competitive and complementary technologies and the flexibility to incorporate internal and external innovation into the product.

  • A sense of urgency infused with a virulent enthusiasm to drive the vision.

  • Demonstrated technical acumen in product development and delivery.

  • A combination of strategic thinking and pragmatic delivery to yield the best short term as well as long term results.

  • Proven success leading and nurturing a distributed, cross-functional, globally distributed engineering organization.

  • Minimum of 10+ years of people leadership & management experience in software product development and hosted/SaaS services.

  • Computer science & business degree (or comparable education)
