Position Summary:

The Head Nurse, selected from experienced staff nurses, possesses the requisite qualifications, skills, and experience to lead effectively within the ward or unit. This role is crucial in achieving the hospital's goals, objectives, and standards, emphasizing performance and excellence in patient care.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Commitment to Hospital:

  • Practice client-centered care that upholds the hospital’s reputation for excellence, demonstrating respect, clear communication, and professional conduct.

  • Address and resolve any patient or family concerns promptly and effectively to maintain positive impressions.

  1. Job Competence – Daily Tasks:

  • Coordinate patient care in collaboration with medical staff and healthcare professionals.

  • Foster positive relationships with patients, families, and visitors, acting as a patient advocate when necessary.

  • Assign nursing staff duties based on qualifications, experience, and patient needs, resolving staffing issues as they arise.

  • Conduct regular rounds to stay informed of ward or unit activities and conditions.

  • Assess patient care requirements and ensure appropriate nursing interventions using the Nursing Process.

  • Implement unit and departmental policies and procedures effectively.

  • Monitor and manage supplies, medications, and equipment usage to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • Provide orientation and ongoing training for nursing staff, including participation in educational activities.

  • Coordinate nursing services across departments to optimize patient care.

  • Ensure compliance of nursing staff with established policies and procedures.

  • Direct nursing staff during emergencies and coordinate disaster responses as needed.

  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care.

  • Conduct rounds with team members and physicians to devise effective nursing care plans.

  • Cultivate a positive work environment conducive to teamwork and productivity.

  1. Attitude, Professionalism, and Confidentiality:

  • Maintain a positive demeanor and professional appearance, adhering to hospital standards and dress code.

  • Take responsibility for actions and uphold confidentiality requirements.

  1. Management of Work:

  • Perform regular rounds to assess patient care areas, staffing levels, and patient conditions.

  • Receive and deliver reports from each patient care area regarding patient status and identified issues.

  • Ensure punctuality and effective time management in daily operations.

  1. Quality and Customer Service:

  • Develop area-specific objectives aligned with hospital and departmental goals.

  • Support and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Quality Improvement initiatives, evaluating patient care outcomes.

  • Complete necessary documentation and reports accurately and timely.

  1. Personal and Professional Development:

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and development opportunities for charge nurses, fostering problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Identify staff learning needs and conduct onsite teaching sessions to enhance professional development.

  • Pursue ongoing professional growth and educational opportunities.

  1. Management of Resources and Environment:

  • Monitor resource utilization and expenditures to ensure efficient operations within allocated budgets.

  1. Patient and Family Education:

  • Educate patients and families according to their needs, involving them in care planning and respecting their preferences.

  • Implement patient education policies and procedures with proper documentation.

Charge Nurse, Staff Nurse

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) is preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience.

  • At least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Licensure/Certification:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Certification in Nursing Administration (CNA) or equivalent preferred.

Skills:

  • Fluent in spoken and written English.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

  • Customer service orientation and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

  • Proficiency in computer applications.

  • Project management and organizational skills.

  • Creative thinking and flexibility in problem-solving.

Salary:

  • Salary Range: Ranging from GBP 3,500 to GBP 4,000 per month (Tax-free) based on experience and country of origin.
