Job Summary
The HSSU Head Track and Field Coach is responsible for all aspects of developing and organizing the indoor/outdoor Track & Field program. Position also requires extensive recruiting, coordination of practices, skill development, and instructing student athletes in techniques for peak performance. The position also requires some NAIA eligibility knowledge and performs other related duties as assigned by the Athletic Director & or appropriate administrator. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Essential Functions
Instructs student athletes in techniques of the sport, rules, regulations, and equipment
Coordinates practices, scheduling, team travel, strength and conditioning program for student athletes
Coaches effectively in practices and competitions
Integrates the program into the campus community
Manage team budget and fundraising experience
Provides supervision of student athletes
Initiate process for determine academic eligibility of prospect track student athletes
Recommend improvements and modifications
Oversee selection, purchase, fitting and maintenance of equipment
Promote philosophy of the athletic department and HSSU University
Minimum Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree required
At least two or three year's experience as an official collegiate track & field coach and/or the head high
school track and field coach.
Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills in track and field
Must possess some knowledge of the NAIA rules, and regulations Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with University administrators and student-athletes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly.
