Job Description Summary:
Deck Supervisors assist in managing the aquatic facility operations including supervision of all lifeguards and swim instructors on-duty. They assist with in-service trainings, completing minor pump room operations, water chemistry testing and overall safety of all pool activities. The Deck Supervisor is responsible for implementing and conducting evaluation and training of lifeguard staff, managing aquatic programming, and performing other departmental activities as required. The employee is directly responsible for communication to the public regarding the success of all aquatic's programs and safety activities.
Available shifts are variable and flexible; weekday daytime availability is preferred but not required. Deck Supervisors may work at any of the following locations: East Boulder Community Center, North Boulder Recreation Center, South Boulder Recreation Center, Scott Carpenter Pool, Spruce Pool.
The hiring rate for head lifeguards starts at $18.00/hour.
We are looking for folks who can fill some of the time slots listed below:
Mon - Fri 5:30 AM - 11 AM
Weeknights
Weekend hours between 6:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain the highest level of skills, portray a professional attitude at all times, be proactive and be a role model for the lifeguard team.
Help build a solid lifeguard team through evaluation, on-the spot coaching opportunities, training, and proper supervision.
Make sure lifeguards are actively scanning, rotating and breaking on time.
Ensure lifeguard stations are in the proper locations based on activity in the pool(s).
Deck Supervisors work in rotation alongside the lifeguard team. They are responsible for enforcing facility rules, regulations and policies.
In the case of an emergency, the Deck Supervisor leads, directs and controls the situation. Responsible for proper documentation (incident/accident/rescue reports).
Performs daily safety inspections of pools and equipment to reduce hazards and to provide maximum safety to the patrons.
Communicates any pump room maintenance issues, staff issues, patron issues, and general concerns with the management team in a timely manner.
Maintains proper pool chemical balance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid/CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
Prior Supervision of Lifeguards and Customer Service experience
Ability to evaluate conditions in assigned areas and make proper judgments into overall patron safety
Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal & leadership skills, including conflict resolution
Proficient lifeguard and swim instructor skills
Friendly demeanor and outgoing
Capable of working with direct and indirect supervision
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
American Red Cross Swim Instructor (WSI) preferred
American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) preferred
