Application Procedures:

  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Fundamentals of Coaching" course, or approved equivalent (AIA Rule 17.1).

  • Certificate verifying completion of the NFHS online "Concussion in Sports - What You Need to Know" course (AIA Rule 17.1).

  • An Arizona Teaching Certificate OR an Arizona Coaching Certificate OR a certificate verifying completion sport specific course (AIA Rule 17.1.2)

  • Current Certification in CPR and First Aid

  • Knowledge of essential skills, techniques, rules and safety concerns for the sport to be coached

  • Skill in communicating with all stakeholders

  • Knowledge necessary to adhere to rules set out by AIA (www.aiaonline.org) and Peoria Unified School District #11

  • Attend mandatory school district and AIA meetings


  • Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background clearance check.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Arizona driver's license as driving students to and from competitions may be required.

  • May be required to work outside normal working hours

  • May be required to travel to perform work functions

  • Must utilize online platforms required for specific sports like MaxPreps, HUDL, and others.

  • Must establish a sense of comradery among our players through teambuilding, fundraising, service projects, etc.

VIEW JOBS 5/10/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-08-08T00:00 Essential Job Functions * Assist in developing natural supports and community living so a greater sense of identity is established. * Ability to teach/train recovery information and recovery tools (i.e.: WRAP, Recovery Planner, etc...) * Model personal responsibility, self-advocacy, and hopefulness via telling of their recovery story, how needs are respectfully met, and how a belief in themselves is maintained. * Cultivate connectedness in the person's life (self, others, the environment, and to meaning and purpose). * Under direct supervision, may provide supportive services and conduct related activities such as, recreation, meal preparation, and instruction in daily living skills, etc. * Utilizes recovery-partnership approach to gather information about solutions the person is seeking and help them develop action plans. * By sharing their own personal experience of recovery helps engage each person in a personal recovery journey using the recovery pathways of hope, choice and, empowerment * Partners with the person to obtain collateral information from the person's support team such as family members, friends, case manager. * In partnership with the person, serves as an advocate with other service providers, obtaining the most effective recovery-oriented outcome for each individual. * Provides support to individuals using a Recovery Coaching model. * Provides information and support to family members and other natural supporters to keep them included in the person's life. * Participates as a team member to provide a safe recovery environment. Utilizes infection control and other safety standards. Contributes to the cleanliness of the work place. * Fosters personal and environmental wellness by taking care of self and maintaining environmental wellness by reporting infection and on the job injuries. * Assesses emergency situations, notifies supervisor of actual or potential challenges, exercises judgment in stressful conditions and responds calmly and quickly. Displays teamwork during emergencies. Job Requirements: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties. * High School diploma or GED * Successful completion of Recovery Innovations Peer Employment Training upon hire. * Healthcare Provider CPR Certification and First Aid Certification. * Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training (will be completed upon hire) Driving Requirements: * If driving is required for this position, must meet all requirements outlined in RI International driving policy. * If not qualified to drive per driving policy, a Non-Driver Attestation form must be signed. A Direct Service Competency Checklist must be completed as part of the new hire onboarding process. Physical Demands: May include work close to the eyes and substantial motions of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, finger dexterity; eye-hand-foot coordination, use of corrected vision; color vision; use of auditory senses. May be required to lift up to twenty (20) pounds. Work Environment May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with individuals who are agitated and/or confused.
