Pay Range: Per the Extra-Curricular Salary Schedule found HERE
Benefits: This position is not eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, or life insurance.
Sick leave is accrued at 1 hour for every 40 hours worked in accordance with Washington state law. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have previous training and/or experience in coaching appropriate sport
Maintain a current First Aid and CPR cards and be willing to keep cards current for future coaching responsibilities
Demonstrate a willingness to actively acquire coaching clock hours to fulfill the WIAA clock hour requirements
Demonstrated ability to establish a positive rapport with and motivate the student/athlete
Be knowledge of current strategies, techniques, proper safety precautions, rules and regulations for appropriate sport
Must be at least 21 years of age per WIAA requirements
Must uphold board policies and follow administrative procedures
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Be supportive of the total athletic program that runs through 12th grade
Promote good sportsmanship and exemplify high ethical standards for self and team
Become knowledgeable and practice WIAA Guidelines, National Federation Rules, League Standard Operating
Adhere to procedures, school district policies, and coaching handbook contents
Develop and articulate a vision for the program that embraces character development and a positive experience for all athletes
Serve as a positive role model for students, and practice the behaviors that are expected of our student athletes
Communicate effectively with players, coaches, parents, media, and the community
Develop a cooperative working relationship with other secondary head coaches in the Kelso School District
Support the student/athlete within the academic program by holding high academic standards for students and monitoring student achievement
Exercise the proper care and storage of equipment and maintain a current inventory
Communicate with the Athletic Director, Athletic Coordinators, Secretaries, and Building Administration regarding practice schedules, award criteria, middle school participation, volunteer coaches, general correspondence, team rosters, and discipline concerns
Strictly adhere to athletic office clearance procedures prior to a student/athlete's participation in the sport
Provide and review with each student/athlete a copy of the Student Athletic Handbook and apply discipline fairly and positively as outlined in the Student Handbook
Distribute, collect, and keep on file signed safety guidelines from each participant in the sport
Follow and enforce district guidelines when transporting student athletes to contests
Treat all injuries with discretion; administer first aid and CPR when deemed necessary and complete accident reports in a timely manner
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Have regular, consistent attendance
Perform other related duties as may be assigned
