Position Description

Battle Ground High School

Head Dance Coach

Fall & Winter 2024-2025

DUTIES:

  • Plan and run team tryouts and selection.

  • Management of team ASB budget and selected fundraising activities.

  • Attend Money Management meetings.

  • Plan, organize and run approved fundraising activities.

  • Management of team equipment and supplies, including accurate record of inventory and clean equipment room.

  • Must have the ability to develop, supervise, and implement dance routines and practice sessions, as well as school

spirit events.

  • Supervise dancers in the stands as they will be promoting school spirit at games and events.

  • Instruction of proper and safe techniques/skills.

  • Coordination of team awards and recognition.

  • Follow district and WIAA guidelines for safety.

  • Schedule transportation for any competitions.

  • Enforce district athletic code as it applies to student athletes.

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff and community.

  • Demonstrate a positive role model to students/athletes, parents, staff and community.

  • Work with cheerleaders and other students to generate and maintain school spirit.

  • Communicate with Athletic Director and Activities Director on a regular basis.

  • Partner with Cheer Coach to promote school spirit.

  • Organize and run a student-parent meeting before each session.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Meet WIAA coaching guidelines.

  • Must possess current first aid card and CPR card prior to the season.

  • Preferred - Previous coaching and/or dance experience.

  • WIAA training will be required for sudden cardiac arrest and concussion training.

I also agree to abide by all rules and regulations of the District.

  • Are you willing to be fingerprinted at ESD 112 upon offer of employment, if you do not have current fingerprint records on file? The cost, currently $85.00, to be borne by the applicant.

  • Do you confirm that you DO NOT have a serious behavioral problem which endangers the educational welfare or personal safety of students, teachers, or other colleagues? A serious behavior problem includes, but is not limited to: dishonesty; immorality; misuse of alcohol, a controlled substance, or a prescription drug; or furnishing alcohol or controlled substances to a minor or student.

  • I have never been convicted/and or pleaded guilty of a crime against children. (If this is true, answer yes. If this is false, answer no.

Attachment Requirements and Hints

Extra Curricular positions require a cover letter and documentation of current First Aid and CPR certification. If you are in the process of obtaining certification, please upload a document to that effect in place of the First Aid/CPR attachment or upload a statement of willingness to attend a district provided First Aid/CPR class.

Benefits

This position is not benefit or retirement eligible at time of hire. It could become eligible if position changes to meet the criteria.

This position is entitled to sick leave as prescribed by CBA or WA State Law.
