Position Title Head Baseball Coach FLSA Exempt Department Baseball Job Summary

Xavier University of Louisiana, an NAIA institution located in New Orleans, is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Head Baseball Coach for a full-time position. The head coach will report to the Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation. This individual will be responsible for all phases of the program. This includes, but is not limited to, recruitment and retention of academically and athletically qualified student-athletes, overall program administration, practice, and game preparation. AA/EOE

Specific Responsibilities

• Manage the overall operation of the program

• Monitor academic progress of student-athletes

• Evaluate and recruit prospective student-athletes per NAIA rules

• Collaborate with the Strength & Conditioning Coach and Athletic Training Room staff

• Scout opponents and develop game plans

• Establish a competitive schedule

• Creating a safe and comfortable athletic and professional environment for student-athletes and with athletic department staff

• Compliance with policies, procedures and rules of Xavier, Red River Athletic Conference, and the NAIA

• Oversee fundraising and community outreach programs to promote the sport's program as an integral part of the community and the University

• Serve as a mentor to the student-athletes

• Supervise assistant coaches, graduate assistants and managers

• Other related duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Athletics and Recreation

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree is required from an accredited college or university, with previous successful college coaching and/or playing experience preferred. A strong commitment to the student first concept and a working knowledge of NAIA rules and regulations is required. Strong organization, oral, written communication and computer skills are required. A demonstrated ability to recruit and work with culturally diverse groups of people is required. A valid driver's license.

The position requires frequent travel.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous collegiate coaching experience.

Special Requirements Summary Work Hours

Potentially working more than 40 hours per week, weekends and holidays.

Knowledge of sports field landscaping principles.

Knowledge of NAIA baseball rules and procedures.

Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions.

Skill in oral and written communication.
