Description of Position:

Serves as head coach for Contra Costa College's intercollegiate baseball team.

Duties include:

• Direct all aspects of Contra Costa College's baseball program as the head coach while working with the Athletics Director

• Recruitment of service area high schools and contiguous districts' students/athletes

• Develop and maintain the baseball program

• Maintain the schedule and budget of the baseball program

• Selection of assistant coaches

• Possess knowledge of all California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) rules and regulations

• Fundraising for the baseball program

• Retention of students/athletes at the college level

Duties and Responsibilities:

Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

1. providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;

2. creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;

3. evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;

4. meeting with students outside of class;

5. maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;

6. maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;

7. fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;

8. maintaining accurate academic records;

9. performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:

Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

any bachelor's degree or higher and two years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six years of professional experience. Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Knowledge of and experience working in Contra Costa College's service and recruiting area and a demonstrated ability to recruit student athletes for intercollegiate level competition.

• Experience teaching kinesiology activity and/or lecture courses at the college level.

• Experience coaching baseball at the collegiate and/or professional level.

• Experience with and knowledge of diverse learning styles and a variety of academic goals.

• Experience with preparing student-athletes to transition to an intercollegiate and/or elite level with the academic and athletic skills for success.

• Knowledge California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA) rules and regulations.

• Ability to pass mandatory CCCAA in service online examination.

• Experience fundraising, statistic keeping, basic recordkeeping, inventory, and computer skills.

• Experience with conflict resolution within a team setting.

• Possession of a valid California driver's license.
