POSITION: Head Baseball Coach

LOCATION: Westover High School

JOB SUMMARY:

The High School Baseball Coach is responsible for leading the school's baseball program, developing athlete's skills, fostering teamwork, and promoting sportsmanship. The coach will plan and conduct practices, manage games and tournaments, and ensure the overall development and safety of the student-athletes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, or related field (preferred);

• Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher:

• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to work well with students, staff, and parents in a professional manner;

• Excellent communication and organizational skills;

• Ability to relate to and motivate all students in a positive manner with respect;

• Ability to teach and demonstrate fundamental skills such as pitching, hitting, fielding and base running.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops and implements practice schedules and training programs to improve individual and team performance;

• Teaches fundamental baseball skills, strategy, and sportsmanship;

• Manages team logistics, including scheduling games, arranging transportation, and organizing equipment;

• Communicates effectively with parents, athletic department staff, and school administration;

• Mentors student-athletes on and off the field;

• Encourages academic achievement and monitor academic progress;

• Promotes personal growth and character development;

• Ensures the safety of all student-athletes during practices, games, and other activities;

• Complies with school, district and GHSA policies and regulations;

• Maintains current knowledge of coaching techniques, rules and regulations;

• Performs other such duties needed or assigned by the Supervisor.

REPORTS TO: Principal/ Athletic Director

SALARY RANGE: Competitive salary and excellent benefits package, in accordance with the DCSS Compensation Guide
