Head Athletic Trainer * Home * University of Valley Forge Careers * Head Athletic TrainerHead Athletic TrainerThe University of Valley Forge seeks a Head Athletic Trainer. This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Athletics. The Head Athletic Trainer is responsible to provide first aid and preventative measures for all student-athletes at the University of Valley Forge.Essential Responsibilities* Oversee operation of training room including modalities, equipment and supplies used. Maintains general cleanliness of these areas. * Secure bid proposals, place orders, and maintain inventory of sport medicine supplies and modalities. * Prepare the athletes for each practice and game by exercising, preventative taping and bandaging, and providing guidance relative to the team warm-up. * Work with Team Physician in conducting physical examinations for athletes. * Work with Team Physician and Head Coach (es) to determine when it is medically safe for an injured athlete to return to competition. * Actively participate in the rehabilitation of athletes following an athletic injury or surgery. Insure, to the degree possible, that the rehabilitation occurs on-site. * Provide accurate and thorough injury records on student-athletes. * Compile and organize physicals, emergency cards, and other pertinent information for each individual athlete. * Communicate with other team's trainer for all away games. * Stock and prepare med bags for away contests. * Remain active in professional organizations to remain current on new standards and techniques. * Demonstrate ability to form healthy relationships with higher education students. * Assist in other duties whenever called upon as needed for the good and welfare of the total College ministry.Other Duties and Responsibilities* Work under the supervision of the Director of Athletics and in direct contact with the Team Physician with the aim of fielding a healthy team. * Attend all home sporting events to prepare athletes for competition and provide assistance during events. * Demonstrate ability to interact well with all parties involved in the care of student-athletes * Use good judgment in responding to emergency (injury) situations. * Communicate directly with head coach(es) on a daily basis or as required. * Work within the budget designated when ordering sports medicine supplies. * Organize and implement off-season training programs for athletes with the Head Coach of a sport, as time permits and interest warrants. * Self-starter and able to handle confidential matters. * Prepare annual budget for administrative approval.Work EnvironmentThe work environment consists of exposure to physical conditions typical of a normal office environment. Most of the job is performed while sitting, although the work may require standing or walking and/or the lifting and carrying of small objects. Regular travel should be expected.Spiritual RequirementsAll employees must be openly committed followers of Christ and sign the UVF Community Covenant.* Evidence of a desire to grow in grace and in the knowledge of Christ. * An identifiable salvation experience.* A pattern of spiritual development characterized by prayer, Bible study, and regular attendance at a local church or involvement in church ministry.* A commitment to ministry and encouragement of others toward the same.Qualifications and Abilities* Bachelor's degree in Health Services related field and a master's degree preferred. * Bachelor's Degree or related job experience of 1-2 years preferred. * Licensed Athletic Trainer and/or Certified Athletic Trainer - NATA* The ability to identify personal strengths, weaknesses, skills, and limitations, and to use this understanding profitably. * The desire to grow, develop, and mature, both spiritually and professionally. * The ability to create and maintain a Christian professional atmosphere in all internal and external relationships.* A spirit of cooperation and willingness to serve as a team.* A professional appearance.The UniversityThe University of Valley Forge (UVF) is an accredited Christian university of the Arts, Sciences, and Professions located on a beautiful 100+ acre campus in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
