Head Athletic Trainer will play a pivotal role in managing player health and wellness for the San Diego Clippers. This position is essential in supporting both on-court and off-court operations, aligning with the organization's commitment to leadership and long-term excellence. The role requires extensive experience as a licensed Athletic Trainer, in-depth knowledge of orthopedics and sports injury management, and a focus on acute injury management and risk reduction. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high-performance approach to athlete wellness, effective communication skills, and the ability to lead within a team environment.
This is a full-time role based in Oceanside, CA, and is eligible for our competitive benefit offering including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan with company contribution, Well-Being Allowance, and more. Due to the nature of this position, Head Athletic Trainer must work a flexible schedule including weeknights, weekends, and holidays to G-League games, including traveling with the team.
What You Will Do
Lead all aspects of player health and performance
Schedule and coordinate all player medical appointments
Prepare players for practices and games
Provide exceptional manual and restorative therapy to all players
Collaborate with Performance, Health & Wellness colleagues on the planning, implementation and execution of preventative performance, health, and wellness strategies
Assist the Head Strength Coach with player lifts and programming
Monitor and report on athlete health and wellness
Communicate athlete injury status with performance staff, team physician, coaching staff, and parent team
Collaborate on return-to-play protocols with strength and conditioning coach, team physician, and coaching staff
Document all player treatments and medical updates in team EMR and other internal platforms
Oversee day-to-day operations and scheduling
Manage and organize equipment, supplies, medications, and supplements
Maintain the cleanliness of all training spaces
Support the NBA G League and its partners on player testing initiatives
Your Background, Skills, and Qualifications
Master's or equivalent level degree in Athletic Training required
Current BOC Certification
Minimum of 3 years' experience with a collegiate-level sports team
Minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience
Exposure to the Gray Institute Methodology
Evidence of current continuing professional development
Ability to learn, contribute, and thrive in a fast-growing, multifaceted environment
Effective interpersonal skills, both oral and written
