Position Purpose:
A Staff Software Engineer within one of QuoteCenter's Core Services teams typically has experience across multiple full-stack projects, but is a veteran expert in back-end systems and infrastructure.
They know how to apply modern cloud-native service development patterns consistently, and can engage at different elevations of complexity as needed. They can nimbly move between designing an API contract for a pleasant consumer onboarding experience, to selecting the appropriate database technology for the particular capability their team is building, to troubleshooting horizontal scaling issues in one of their service deployments.
QuoteCenter Staff Software Engineers are experts in their domain. They act as a technical resource for Product partners, peer Staff Software Engineers across other teams, and Principal Engineers in turning requirements into reality in a sustainable way, while maintaining a constant Platform mindset.
In addition to technical skills, they are strong advocates for their team, and regularly delegate and coordinate work and opportunities to more junior team members to support their growth. They work with their Direct Manager to create a culture of psychological safety within their team, and act as force multipliers within the Engineering department to drive excellence in execution.
The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for leading a team of engineers building and designing a product that our customers and associates love. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers of all experience levels who help each other build and grow technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. In addition, Staff Software Engineers will assist in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring.
Staff Software Engineers contribute to foundational code elements that can be reused as well as architectural diagrams and other product-related documentation.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a core player on the product team and are expected to build and grow the skillsets of the more junior Engineers.

Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.
Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
3-5 years of relevant work experience
Extensive experience with C#, .NET, cloud native, and preferably Java, and springboot.
Experience would include cloud native (GCP), Docker, Kubernetes
Relational or noSQL (Cassandra and Elasticsearch) database technology, cloud computing techniques, CI/CD tools, modern software design patterns
Experience in effective data modeling with both Relational and NoSQL databases
Experience with security frameworks for user and services authorization and authentication
Experience with creating and executing unit, functional, destructive and performance tests
Experience with modern debugging and root cause analysis techniques
Experience with version control system
Experience in designing systems for High Availability, Disaster Recovery, Performance, Efficiency, and Security
Exposure to developing technical roadmaps including work estimation, refactoring and modernizing legacy systems
